Oh Lola, I really feel for you. You don't say how long you have been receiving treatment and it does take a while to kick in. Someone on here will know far more than me but till then, be kind to yourself and I'm sending gentle Scottish hugs your way xx

Me to (scottish that is). 75mcg is not a very high dose, and I did okay on that amount for 6/7 years. However, fell into a big hole about 2 years ago and have had an awful job getting out. Started a T4/T3 combo 9 weeks ago which has improved a lot of things including low mood but symptoms still persist. Was low on Vit D3 (now taking supplements) and am about to have B12, folate etc checked. If you are sleeping badly, have you had your adrenals checked. If something else is out (other than your thyroid), no amount of levo will work properly.

hi, had my b12 etc doc said its low but not low enough to prescribe, how do you have adrenals checked, my doctor is not very sympathetic at all and cant see why i am making a fuss

Hi, if you have got your B12 results, post them on here and someone will comment, doctors are a bit clueless on anything thyroid and low B12 along with folate can interfere with the uptake of your meds. So can low adrenals, I had mine tested by Genova Diagnostics, it is a home saliva kit, easy to use. I don't know if this site has a list of labs for testing but hopefully someone will be along and let you know, if not post a question. Hope this helps

hi, b12 254pg/ml (191-663) ferritin 35ng/ml (13-150) folate 6.6 ng/ml (4.6 -18.7) all says abnormal but doctor laughed at me and said it means nothing, that i am fine

Hi, your doctor wants a smack in the mouth. All of those readings seem low to me and are in the bottom range. Even when I was feeling my worst 18 months ago my B12 was 382 and ferritin 62, they are now 475 and 117.1 respectively.

Lola I am not an expert on this subject but so that your question can be answered properly post your results as a new subject and ask for comments. Lack of B12, folate and ferritin can cause depression and now you are on a higher dose this may now be highlighting where your other deficiencies are, which are stopping the meds working properly. Try looking as well on the B12 website, I think it is B12.org. Hope this helps

thank you for your help , i will post the question now, but tell me why would the doctor laugh at me for asking the question if the result says abnormal

in reply tolola1956

Don't take it personally, I think its because they have no idea what they are doing. Only yesterday, my doctor puckered her nose when I suggested something other than thyroid might be causing my symptoms, like B12 or adrenals, she's sweet but clueless.
