I have been on 150 levo since being diagnosed 25yrs ago . I have now been reduced to 125 why would that happen after all these years? I am65
It looks as if your doctor is prescribing according to your TSH blood test result only. They really have no scientific reason for adjusting doses. If you can get a print-out of your latest blood test results complete with the ranges, post them on a new question and someone will comment.
Some GP's try to keep you 'within range' but they should actually aim for a TSH 1 or below.
Have yor been well all these years on 150mcg of levo?

be very careful before you agree to reduce. I was told that you need less when you get older and the Gps reduced me from 300 down to 175 (gradually)which resulted in me becomming very,very sick. I question the statment that you need less thyroxine when you get older. Just because people with normal thyroid function produce less doesn't mean that they need less. Go by how you feel and the levels of your T4 nd T3 and not by TSH results
