Hi What are your blood tests, TSH, T4 and Free T3? You also need the ranges as differ. you need those + how you feel for the correct treatment. It is just possible that with NDT . You need either a little T3 or a little T4 ) Only the bloods will show that. Are you seeing an ENdo? If so you should have automatically had the other relevant bloods done, at a minimum, Vit D ( Hormonal, if low corrected calcium test before taking any D) Diabetes, autoimmune and hormonal, ditto B12 and Folic acid and iron/ ferritin. If any of these are low you will also need treatment , it all effects the thyroid. These , especially vit D , should ideally be looked after by an Endo. ,

Best wishes,

Jackie

Hi. Jackie. 13. years on. Went to see another Endo on 2nd. private. I was on 16th day of dose 3 1/4. grains. He said increase to 31/2. grains. 31/4grains not enough T4=23.9. f.t.3=9.7. t.s.h.=0.02. Felt good for 7 days, then ill and weak for last week. appointment yesterday. taking my blood tests he wonted done. I left my copy there by mistake. brain fog. He now says you have not gone over, go back to 3. grains. Does not sound right to me. what blood tests i have. Ferritin=124.3. B12=650 ng/l. vit. D. was done, but on copy i left. he said all normal. I was not happy with Cortisol level, but it was in range. said i would like 24 hour cortisone test. He said saliva test no good. All doctors say this. I know he did not do Folic acid. Have not decreased dose, now on day 16 3.1/2grains. Feel better today, still weak. I will forward blood tests on Monday. The longest i have been well is 6 weeks. Have a few good days then drop, so weak i have to go to bed. when well feel great, with energy. Hope this makes sense. I have lot the plot

Gosh! My TSH is always immeasurable, no cause found. I am sure you know that often means you need the pituitary gland checked. I do not think it is very low as NDT depresses it.Have you had repeat bloods before each raise in meds? Do you know it is possible to have the same symptoms for Hypo and Hyper. I was overdosed with armour by a a slightly unorthodox private doc. ( Not Endo) it made me very ill, still problems left. Then when I saw a private Endo, she soon sorted me out, Hashimoto I cannot think of any Endo that would prescribe like that, some private docs without the right tests .You do need all the ranges but I have never heard of any Lab with a range for FT3 higher than about 6, some lower. I use 4 different Labs.Like wise the Ferritin sounds very high, need ranges.B12 too. Are you paying yourself for these tests, normally Endo writes to GP and instructs about everything, only if insured are you expected to have them done privately. Normally any private consultant , you can just pay for the consultations My .very good Endo, says that the only good test for cortisol ( adrenal glands) is 24 hour collection, cortisone tablet, script, 12 midnight and blood test 9 am.I have to say I do wonder ? I am really not surprised you feel terrible. I am treated on symptoms and t4 and FT3, I have frequent tests and under no circumstances do I or my Endo let me go over range, especially T3, or amour in T3 as T3 very potent and can cause lots of problems used incorrectly. Did you start on just Levo ( T4) and T3, against bloods. Most Endo `s only use NDT if allergic to T4 etc. I am but still can mange armour and a little T3 to keep in best range for me. I am really horrified especially when I know what happened to me, although I was treated with the very best of intentions and desperate at that time I am sorry if this comes across . wrongly but I am just so shocked. I would also have a vit D test with ranges, if low corrected calcium before treatment, ideally from an Endo.I use either armour or Erfa, I am guessing that that is what you have.

this is just my opinion , guides what my Endo always tells me and what I have had to discover myself. More info now with web ETC

Best wishes,

Jackie.

Yes Erfa. I was on levo. getting on where. Went to see DR S. put me on Erfa. was well to start with. but then went down. lots of phone calls. but he says increase dose. Got to last January went to kings hospital, thinking something wrong. doctor said i was t3 toxic. ft4=20pmo1/l. f.t3. =7.4. 1/l. t.sh0.01mu/l. she decreased my dose to 90.grains . before she decrease dose. ft3=20pmo1/l. ft3=7.41/l t.sh.0.01. I was so ill, went back in wheelchair. said sym ptoms did not go with blood test. sorry this is hard for me to do. DR.S. wrote to her and said i was not t3 toxic. I have had to build up dose again. have phoned and email DR skinner. no reply. at my wits end. So went to see this Endo. i know i can not go by blood tests. kings doctor proved that. what should i do, who do you see. I would go any where to get well. need help, feel bad.

Hi you need to have your vitamin d checked, that's what the endo did a few Weeks ago and mine is really low and that was also adding to the tiredness and pains in my legs. X
