I think that happens quite often. Although with me, my voice has just got screechy! It changes register at will. Sometimes I sound like a parrot. I used to have such a lovely speaking voice - earned my living with it for many, many years and was always getting compliments. Now, when I open my mouth, I have no idea what is going to come out. Sometimes it's a normal voice but often it is too high or too low, or just a screech or sometimes I open my mouth and choke myself on my own saliva and can't speak for coughing! Anything can happen!
I think I'd have prefered it if my voice had just got deeper...
I knew that hypothyroid effects smooth muscle and when I am low on meds, my throat becomes hoarse. Now i wonder if it's also representing a thyroid attack. This can go on for years and years. Have you ever had your antibodies measured? Many others have said they have lost parts of their vocal range. I cannot reach high notes any longer.
I have had anti bodies tested and was told that i have high peroxidase anti bodies present and also high T Lymphocytes which the Dr put down as a virus. I'm not convinced and I'm having my bloods done again next week. I've also been referred to an Endo, just waiting for an appointment. I've also requested my blood tests, so i can see whats going on.
