Hi Shaun,

Unfortunately, Graves Disease can cause all kinds of problems such as anxiety, depression, aggression etc. Add pregnancy to the mix and all hell can break loose!

Perhaps you can ask someone to talk to her on your behalf until things calm down.

hi thank you for your reply, Ann doesnt have to many friends she keeps herself to herself she has her daughters, she has six children and four are girls ages 13 14 16 and 20 and they all seem to stick by eachother wich is fine but i dont think she is getting the right answers from them as they will all stick by there mum and i dont blame them but they cannot give her adult answers, she has her sister but she would not get involved as Ann would just have a go at her if she didnt side with her, its very hard and i think we both need counciling but ive asked Ann and she said she would go with me but im told its no good having counciling while Ann is pregnant as she would not be in the right frame of mind to listen anyway, its so hard to communicate with her, my daughter from another relationship is 11 and who i have every other weekend Anns daughter of 13 was very nasty to my daughter so my daughter Connie does not want to go to there house as me and Ann dont live with eachother and Ann said that i should make my daughter go to there house so that i am there For Ann but i have never forsed my daughter to do anything she is a good kid, i am at a loss as what to do apart from stick by my daughters side as Ann and her kids all call my daughter a spoilt brat as she gets clothes and pocket money and Anns kids dont as she has nether been able to afford it and her ex said he doesnt love his kids and Ann thinks i should make up for what there father doesnt give them we have only been together for a year but we dated when we was 16 and i am now 44 and we thought this was it we have bought a wedding dress and got engaged but it has now fallen apart, sorry for going on but i dont no how to sort this out.

It sounds as though you're both having a pretty tough time. Is your partner's thyroid condition being closely monitored through this pregnancy? You don't mention whether she is on medication for the Graves disease?

hi and thank you for your reply yes Ann is on medication and the hospitol are checking her to see if the medication is helping but Ann will not let me go to the appointments anymore so i cannot ask the doctors any questions i was going to every checkup but now im not allowed, i even told Ann what medication they would give her and what symptoms there are but Ann refuses to admit that she has thes mood swings and aggression she says it is all my daughters fault for not wanting to go to there house and my daughter doesnt want to go as Ann and her daughter has called her a spoilt horrible brat and been realy nasty to her, she is only 11 and she is a good polite child where as Anns kids call there mum a slag and say they dont like there mum but then they all stick together and blame me and my daughter for not being there, sorry for going on.

Hi, Oh dear. Things might calm down a bit once she has had the baby and her hormones start to settle. Families can be very difficult at times. Sometimes you just can't help some people.
