Is it true that there is no cure for ibs. I feel as if this has taken over my life, and I am now quite stressed and exhausted.

Me too! There are times when I feel ok and my IBS is manageable but most of the time I am stressed about it as it is part of everyday life and can't be got away from. From the moment I wake to when I go to bed. It is exhausting and debilitating and many don't understand this.

I try to make my life as stress free as I can(not easy) and I share my condition with friends, so they now know that if I have to dash to the loo when I'm out or can't meet up because I'm having a 'bad' day, which lately seems to be everyday, they understand.

I have found this site very helpful even if it only to know that I am not alone in my everyday problems.

Best wishes

A cure no..... But through trial an error you can find out what food doesn't suit you and what if any meds do ..... I was symptom free for nearly 10 years once I found out what foods etc triggered it. For me stress was a major factor... Am on here as after 6 weeks of stress it has flared up with a vengeance am still trying to get a dr appt as I think I need meds to kick start me back to as normal as I can be... Unfortunately a flare up or new diagnosis doesn't help as stress makes it worse and that leads to exhaustion.... I know it's frustrating but try messing about with your diet to find out if anything helps and see your gp see if he can help with the stress, once that calms down you hopefully will see an improvement

Good luck xxx

Yea thanks everyone. I have tried not eating all sorts of food. just when i think ahah I've got it I have the worst flare up imaginable, to the point of I hardly eat any more, which has my family worried. As for stress well, I now only tackle a couple of things a day, whereas before I tried to fit everything in one day
