According to my gastro, no. Sounds like you can become dependent.

If you need it, take it and don’t worry ! I’ve been taking it every night for over 20 years and currently take 6 nightly.. but several years ago my gastro at the time told me that being dependent on it was far preferable to hospitalisation with a blocked bowel. Indeed my gastro nurse recently told me that she has patients who take more than 20 as alternatives don’t work ( I too have tried all the available alternatives)

I've struggled to find any scientific evidence that it's unsafe physiologically to take it continuously, even through the labelling says not to use more than 7 days etc. anyhow I've been using it in small doses (~half a 7.5mg standard pill) with occasionally more less occasionally less for probably a year. I'm looking for signs it's not a good idea and not fining any.
