HiCan it take a while for symptoms to come, I have read that somewhere I think.
Since I was diagnosed I've avoided red meat mostly, but 3 weeks ago had a Shepherds pie. Also a bit more sparkling wine than the usual 2 small glasses over the Bank Holiday.
For a week now the bloating and tummy pain has been awful. Could it take that long to become a flare up?
My usual diet is quite high fibre, lots of water etc. I'd like to know what caused this latest episode so as never to have those things again
I find bending over to do gardening or housework makes it even worse does anyone else?
The white diet recommended by a dietician I followed last time for 3 weeks, at their insistence, and it did clear.
But now I can't eat the white bread as it causes the worst pain and bloating.
A friend has said to avoid all white carbs as they bloat anyone. And to have plain yoghurt, clear soup until things improve, but that's not much to live on.
Any advice on how to deal with this, and heal it please?
Thank you.

sorry you are going through this Gill2016. IBS and its causes can be a bit of a mystery. I guess you have had all the tests?
I have found that mine is likely to be stress-related. Is anything worrying you at the moment? It might not be something that you are particularly aware of.
I hope that your flare up passes soon. I have to avoid alcohol and all the obvious things, such as beans and peas.
Thanks for your reply Jackie, I thought I'd posted on the Diverticulitis forum. That's what I have been diagnosed with. But what you avoid is very sensible, my daughter has IBS, and is very restricted on what she can eat. And certainly stress makes it so much.
Bloating and pain when bending over sounds to me very like IBS-induced wind. I’ve had it myself and it can be disabling. For me, the answer was to cut out lactose and gluten, plus look at other aspects of the low FODMAP diet. If you have noticed an issue with white bread, then cutting out gluten might be the place to start. Avoid it completely for two weeks, and see if your symptoms improve. Or you could go for the full low FODMAP exclusion diet, but they really advise doing that with the help of a dietitian.
Drinking plenty of water may also help.
With cutting out lactose and gluten, I am almost symptom free now.
