IBS returning after 10 Years?

Hi all.

Just wondering if anyone has had a flare up 10 years or so after the last one?

Would regularly have constipation, stomach cramps and general aches and pains. Seemed to go away as quickly as it came and then all of a sudden the same symptoms are back.

Already feeling miserable.

I don't know but suppose that could happen. I got IBS symptoms in Spring 2018, I didn't know what they were then, but because I was feeling generally unwell too I thought it was some kind of virus. I'd never heard of IBS then.

The gut symptoms completely disappeared in about 9 days and didn't return, even though I was still not feeling right generally.

My gut was fine for 2 whole years with not even one small symptom IBS related.

I know 2 years isn't the same as 10, but mine disappeared also. So it literally came back overnight in Spring 2020.

It hasn't gone away since, but I have had a number of remission periods from it, the best being about 6 weeks last summer when suddenly everything went normal again.

Nothing traceable about how it came and how it went; not diet not stress, no clues.

Hi, I suffered for about a year from constipation and stomach cramps when i was in my early twenties then it went away for nearby 20 years. so I win over your 10 years! Ha! Anyway, when my symptoms returned, although still a form of IBS/functional gut disorder my symptoms are different - more IBS D, no cramps and incredible stomach noises and gas.

Any changes in your gastrointestinal health should be discussed with your doctor. They'll likely want to re-run the exclusion tests just to be sure that it is still IBS.

That happened to me after 15 years. I'd only had one attack before a day with two 4 hour exams when I was younger. Then, nothing until 15 or 20 years later. But I have a history of constipation which comes and goes.

I've been trying to remember to stop eating and save part of my food on the plate for later. Often when I overeat at one time I get an attack. This is my latest idea and so far so good. It's hard to stop eating when I think it doesn't look like too much food.
