Issues at work due to IBS, any tips?

I suffer with IBS and am having real issues at work. I've had to take a lot of time off sick due to my symptoms and have had various disciplinary meetings because of it. I've now got the pressure of being fired and I'm constantly being judged with no understanding. Has anyone else experienced this?

If your GP has confirmed IBS then it will be on your medical notes, which you need to get a copy of or a letter from your GP and anything else about meds you have been prescribed to try and control it. Then contact the IBS network ref employer/employee rights.

I had IBS for many years. And I am a benzo baby from the seventies, now I am nearly 70 trying to take them off me, is now a no go, I am a special case. IBS WAS the most awful during my years trying to work. I ,to had lots of time off ,and the very thought of having to to work made me worse. To cut a long story short. I was taken out of the work place by 2009.

I was eventually diagnosed with work related stress disorder, I did some art at home and learnt art at night school. Stress at work can really make IBS hard to manage, but I was already 56 when they take me off the work place, I got DLA for care from wife, but later developed arthritis everywhere, so Could not walk either, so I was disabled both mentally and physically so got high rate of PIP as well. Waiting for a hip op, but all pushed back due to virus. Difficult ,it is, try to find a job that has the least stress, and get support from your doctor or mental health teams in your area. Actually benzos are a brilliant antispasmodic, but sadly the government is very hostile to it. Because of mistakes made in the release of benzos like lorazpam and Diazapam without testing of dependancy . Try and have meals at work light and never rushed, bolting rolls and tea will lead to IBS spasms. Good luck with the problem, it isn't easy but over time can be managed 😁😁

Hi.My name is Robyn (Robz).

I'm 22 years old.

I suffer from IBS.

I've also had to take a lot of time off sick due to my symptoms and had various disciplinary meetings because of it.

I get judged by my boyfriend if I don't go out with him and friends, because my symptoms are so bad.

I am seeing a Gastroenterologist on Thursday.

I am so sorry you are feeling stressed and judged.

That's terrible! Definitely get the docs involved, if not a lawyer. Can you at least work remote?
