What are the symptoms

Hi diverticulitis are pouches which

protrude out of the intestinal wall.

Symptoms include pain, bleeding,

diarrhoea and fever. Chronic constipation is the most common cause of this condition.

Thanks for that I was told I had that but I had a colonoscopy bout 2 years ago came back all good but they took of a polyp that was there, it had been there since a prior colonoscopy but was really small they took it out this time as was a bit bigger but biopsy on was all good,now I seem to get bloating and some nausea sometimes it goes away and bowel motions sometimes good but sometimes it feels like I still want to go but not if you get my drift tummy can be in comfortable at times just wondering anyone else ever get this I think doc recons ibs I don’t know anyone else feel like this at times oh and indigestion bad sometimes I take pantoprazol so try not to eat to much at once

Hi Makathree,

I have the double whammy of IBS and severe diverticulitis disease. The symptoms (for me anyway) sometimes overlap and because of that it is difficult to work out which one is causing me pain and discomfort. I have been in pain since August 2019 when I had another diverticulitis episode which required yet more anti-biotics. I was on them for well over 2 weeks and they completely annihilated my good gut bacteria. I also think it set off a chain of relentless IBS which has completely debilitated me for many months. If you google diverticulitis disease it does come up with a defined set of symptoms but if you suffer from both then it can be much harder to differentiate between them. I’m not sure if this is much help to you. Hope you get some help soon.
