I have taken it. It's called Miralax in the States. It smelled like glue and it didn't work Except make me cramp and make my stools a gel like sticky mess, that's hard to push out. I personally don't like this laxative. I take a stimulant laxative Senna. It works!

Yes..I do have that. Severe and chronic. Meaning I can't have a bowel movement, (maybe if I drink strong instant black coffee with several packets of Stevia sweetener). Do you just take one or two Senna? I take 5 of the 8.6 tablets on a Saturday night. I cramp somewhat, but it's a welcome relief of you have bad IBS-C..but not nearly the cramping I had when I was having periods. And not the doubled over in pain either. Mostly, I just feel the urge in the Anus area..like a fullness sort of urgency on the Senna. I know you have to take it with a lot of water or Powerade/Gatorade..or you will cramp..

I had to take it recently for impaction and it worked well. Now I take about 2 a day and it seems to work. It takes a while to kick in but no stomach cramps or gas like you can get with other laxatives. I've tried a lot too over the years. Good luck.

Hello, I’ve taken it and found it quite good. I actually have IBS-d but I’m taking an antidepressant called Amitriptyline which causes constipation, so then I also take Movicol to stop the constipation... I can’t win lol. Having too much of it can make it start going too far the other way again so I only take half a sachet every other day. I’d recommend reducing slightly until you find the best the right amount that works for you 😊

Do I still take it if I’m going once a day

No..depends though..when you are going "every day" that is really good but are they stools or hard marbles or rabbit pellets? If you are only producing pebbles or pellets, then Movicol/Miralax is not working..it you need to increase it to twice a day. Have you tried Milk of Magnesia?

I personally have carried on with it but as I say just reduced the amount/frequency. If I stop taking it I just go back to constipation so the Movicol is maintaining the regular bowel movements. Sorry for the late reply by the way! 😊

Hi,

I took movicol for around 12 years from 2004 and worked really well for me. I have had chronic constipation since birth and have worked my way through lots of different treatments and movicol was definitely one of the kindest to my body with no side effects, no griping pains. I was very sorry when it stopped working for me, but like all the other medications, eventually my body got used to it. I would say it is definitely worth a try! Good luck.

Hi I’ve been taking it for years. Take one a day and it helps to keep my bowel movements regular and soft. No problems with it.
