So sad over bloating

I’m not making this up. I look 9 months pregnant 24/7 from bloating. I need to know if anyone else feels this? I can’t stop crying and I don’t know what to do. I am use to having such a flat stomach and being so confident. I have had neither for months.

Hi hon,

I haven't been on here like at all since early Oct. last year, meaning I didn't read any posts & so didn't see yours from weeks back, but lemme say that I've had Crohns & Colitis for more years than I can remember, and your bloating is a side effect of your IBS-C and tho I haven't got IBS, I too suffer from a huge amt. of bloating - 😣 & the gas/flatulence that goes hand in hand with mine 😥- which, along with everything else these f'd up diseases bring, flat out SUCKS!

Did you get a new diet - these diseases seem to come with diets that also SUCK!- & have your Dr's given you Miralax or anything like it to help loosen up your bowel movements? And as a last resort, have you removed all salt from your diet?

I'm trying to think of what else I was told to take when I was given my new diet, but since I've been out of remission (almost a year now) I've been eating everything I'm no longer allowed to have, suffering because of it, and flipping the proverbial finger at both the Gastro specialists, as well as God & my Surgeons for electing me to have to live with & deal with this crappy shit (no pun intended).

If nothing else, I'm here for ya babe, you ARE NOT ALONE K?

Keep me posted on you if you're up to it. I'm at "bluefinwrestler@gmail.com" and my name is Erin.

I do suggest you try some exrcise, as that can help bowel movements. Go for a walk. Sitting doing nothing is not going to help, nor will it help your mental health. Just a short walk! A couple of times a day is even better!

Getting so anxious and worried is bad for you too.

I too have bad bloating it’s awful and I get teased all the time for looking pregnant, which doesn’t help. I’m having gastroscopy and colonoscopy on Wed to see if they can find the cause. I’ve had IBS 30yrs but not had this awful bloating and pain. I have peppermint, Fennel & liquorice or camomile tea. I have not found a trigger food as yet, so I am also frustrated. I hope you find something to help.

I hope you’re tests go well! Please let us know. Wishing you the best

Yes, I had this every day too. It was a horrible feeling of being stuffed on the inside, and so hard to dress for on the outside. I no longer suffer from this, or IBS.

If you have had your digestion checked out by a doctor and all is clear, I would consider triggers other than food.

Have a think back to the few months prior to this starting up. What was going on? Mine was linked to a long-term family relationship. Yours may be quite different. The key will be in noticing where this started and why: sickofibs.com/ibs-symptoms/...

Hope this helps you,

Alison

Hi Alison,

I think this is what is going on with me. Like you said, you would wake up bloated and be bloated 24/7 right?

My bloating has begun on September 6th. I started my freshman year of college at a school I am still at and really hate on August 18th. Months before that there were multiple events that would have cause me massive stress as well. Do you think this could be the cause? It makes the most sense to me since when I am on vacation, I do not have those symptoms.

How were you able to treat yours?

Thank you so much.

Hi yes I have the same problem the hardest thing is finding out what you are eating that causes this, unless it's trapped wind. I suspect cows milk is doing this to me. You didn't say if you have IBS C or IBS D. I find fennel tea helps with the wind. If you are ibs C I eat 4 prunes after my cereal which I have soya milk. Don't get too despondent there are a lot of us on this site who help each other with their experiences.

I appreciate everyone on here so much. I am a college student and feel so alone.

I too suffer from bouts of bloating that last up to a day or two.

I think my trigger is dairy and I have a lactose intolerance test booked in to try and confirm this. Do you think you have a food trigger?

I'm particularly suffering today myself. Tried the Windeze but no luck this time.

I'd second an earlier suggestion in getting moving and exercise, although to be honest, when you feel like this, the last thing you actually feel like doing is exercise or even a walk.

Also, a loose leaf Moroccan mint tea has been a major help in the past....in fact that's my next thing to try and settle my symptoms today.

Hope this helps.

thank you so much john! i have taken dairy out of my diet.... i really dont think i have a food trigger because i use to be able to eat whatever i wanted before college and this weird bloating. i’m taking digestive enzymes, probiotics, and linzess. i am feeling a little bit better! i hope you feel better soon.

Looks like you're doing everything you can.

Glad that you're starting to feel better. How long have you suffered with this bout?

I'm still struggling today but I'm only just up to 24hrs of symptoms, so things could take a little longer to run their course.

Unfortunately, mint tea didn't help this time either.

well i have been suffering for about 7 months. literally the first time i saw the bloat was 1 week after i moved into my dorm for my freshman year of college. only time i saw relief is when i was on vacation. that’s why it makes me believe it’s not food related and more the environment i am in and the stress i am under 😢 I hope you are feeling better :)

Sorry to hear you've been suffering for such a long time. It does sound like things could be stress related. It's hard to say definitely that that's the cause I find. I don't think my current bout is, although I have been under a fair stress.

I think the symptoms can stress you in their own way and then make you feel less able to deal with stress in general, so this can then get into a vicious perpetuating cycle.

Going to college does take time to adjust, think it must have been a whole year before I was in any way settled.

Maybe meditation or relaxation techniques could help?

Think my symptoms are setting now but I find it takes a good day or more to feel 'normal' and yourself even after the symptoms have gone away.

I am the same bloated and burning, it is every day now.

I have Ibs for a few years, maybe I should try meditation.

Hope it gets better for you.
