Hi Mandy from what I know (and its only my opinion so don't quote lol) my dietician says thats its o do with the type of fructose in certain fruits. I avoid most citrus fruits because of what they do to me but was VERY surprised at what I COULD eat according to her. Hope this helps.

Thats what i find confusing though as i would have thought oranges , clementines and nectarines where all the same things (oranges)

You point of " what they do to you" says it all really. Although its something many suffer from i guess IBS is different for everyone. I just find the information so confusing ...I guess its a case of eat it and see !! :)

Thanks for the reply

Nectarines are like peaches but with a smooth skin not citrus like oranges, clementines and tangerines

Nectarines ferment in the body Mandy because of the high fructose in them, the same!e applies to apples which as you know can be made into cider through fermentation process and of course peaches, the orange and Clementine's and similar fruits are less fructose and high citrus. Hope this helps

I never thought about apples in that way but it totally explains why i feel like ive eaten a 4 course meal when i eat one

Yes they do leave a bloated feeling, I learnt it from reading about Fodmap diet, broccoli is another one that ferment in the body, it's very surprising what you think is healthy but turns out to part of the problem. Im glad it helped for that ahha moment 😊

Your welcome, good Luck 😊

Suggest you get the IBS app from MonAsh University which divides all foods into sections indicated by a traffic light system. Eat only green foods which are fine for nearly everyone for 4-6 weeks then you can add back in other foods mRked with Amber colour to find out what really affects you . Other foods are marked with red symbol which it is advisable not to eat.

Generally fruit-wise berries, citrus, bananas are OK but steer clear of fruit with stones in them like peaches plums etc. Plus beware of apples pears. Pineapple good, mango not good

Yes i found out this week that pears are a problem .........I have a serious lung disease and been told i need to gain weight but they told me to eat all high calorie junk food stuff which i just cant so trying to do it a healthier way but this ibs is just a nightmare to get around ...Thanks for the info

I eat gluten free bread and biscuits etc plus porridge plus potato crisps all of which are soluble carbohydrates which are FODMAPS as is rice so can help you to keep weight up without them being junk food. You can also eat tinned lentils.

I can't eat nectaurines or peaches and my family thought I was mad at first, I can't tolerate dairy at all but other foods impact on me too. I can't eat or drink coconut, pineapple or mango which I find a bit bizarre. I am going to have a look at Fodmap, so thanks for that tip 😁
