Is there a link between having natural immunity to TB and not contracting Covid19?The reason I ask is that 7 colleagues and a lot of children are off with the virus at the school I work in. However myself and one other colleague were talking and it appears that neither of us needed the BCG (TB) vaccine as children as we were naturally immune and we seem to be the only staff who have not contracted Covid19, could there be a link?

Is there a link?
Hi jo - you have an interesting question in which I think the answer is unknown. However there has been some indications to this being true, ,although I haven’t seen any updates or new research on this and therefore leaving the debate open
Hi Jo, There is some evidence that the BCG is a good primer for the immune system and it has certainly been investigated as to whether it offers any protection against COVID-19. I believe that the outcome from this is that more research is needed but your experience is certainly interesting.Best wishes,
Helen
My sister didn’t ever need the tb jab as a child either but yet has had covid so not sure if it’s true what your saying . Also my sister has now had to have her tb jab as the tb nurse recommended it now even with the previous test she had as a teenager .
