my wife was diagnosed with brain-tuberculoma after MRI-with contrast and doctar started anti-tb drug, P-zina 1500mg, combuthol 1000mg, R-Cinax 600mg, levetirecetam 1500mg, indrol 40mg, so while having these tablets daily, she gets very dizzy and her head get very heavy sometime she feels weakness in her right leg, and due to these tablets her hand fingers shakes and feels very weak. so what is your recommendation, her LFT is normal, HB is normal, also get sweat and fever.
note: she takes tablet levetirecetam 750mg in morning and 750mg at night for controlling seizures based on doctor's prescription.
what is your kind recommendation for her, therefore she suffers from dizziness, right leg weakness, and heavy head. is this is because of anit-tb drug or something elses. we already take here to doctor he prescribed tablet Serc for dizziness but within that tablet she feels dizziness and heavy head.
Your poor wife, and poor you. This sounds like an awful ordeal and a particularly awful form of TB.
I am not sure that I can help very much, unfortunately. We cannot provide specific medical advice through this forum as it is not administered by clinicians.
You wife's symptoms could be a result of the TB medication or the TB itself. If it is the TB medication, the doctors may be able to adjust the dose or medications used, or prescribe something to help. However, sometimes it is a case that the side effects, though bad, need to be endured because the medication is so important to stop even worse outcomes from the TB.
The best advice I can give is to continue making a note of the symptoms and side effects, including when they occur, so that your doctor has all the information they need to help. Also, your ongoing love and support is one of the best ways to help your wife during this difficult time. Good luck with it all.
Thank you Halen for the reply, let me share how my wife feels right away, now a days, she feels sometime very good, but sometime feels weakness in right leg, hand, more dizziness and heavy head. we have a question that why patient is not going toward bitterness? is she really a brain TB or something else? and could you let me know is brain TB and brain meningitis are same or differs?
we are very much in tension and suffers more pain from this situation, God (Allah) keep give her a sound health.
TB meningitis means the TB bacteria have got into the protective membranes covering the brain and spinal cord. This is sadly a particularly unpleasant form of TB.
It is very likely that you wife will have ongoing health problems even if the TB is successfully cured. This is because TB causes damage to the body that cannot always be repaired.
Sorry I cannot offer more positive news. It is important that you stay in regular contact with the doctor to monitor the treatment and side effects.
It is to update you, as posted 8 months ago now its 9th month that patient is on ATT, and decreased the dose of levetiracetam from 1500mg per day to 500mg per day 250mg at night and 250mg in the morning, along with taking rifampicin and isoniazid.
how is patient health now?
The patient is now good but while taking anit-tb drug by the empty stomach in morning and taking levetiracetam 250mg and vita 6 after breakfast in the morning she becomes dizzy and feels heavy head till 12 PM, and afterward feels good, furthermore her blood pressure decreases to 80/50 and 90/55, the doctor also suggest cac 1000, calcium+vitamin D, but for controlling blood pressure she uses lemon juice with salt every two and three days. however, the doctor further suggested continuing the medicine till 14 months after that they will do another MRI of the brain to see if there is the improvement and will decide about the withdrawal from levetiracetam.
my question is: how to control her low blood pressure?
I will share the update after the next MRI with you.
I am glad that your wife is a lot better than when we last were in touch. It sounds like she has been through a lot, though it is good to hear that you have been there for her throughout it all.
As I am not a doctor I cannot advise about the low blood pressure myself. However, we may have patients on here with similar experiences who can help.
I hope your wife is feeling better..... tb is an evil disease and No one deserves to get it... how is she doing? I'm on pulmonary tb meds and my head is all over the place! I have good days and bad and I've had rb 4 months x
Its her 5th month taking anti tb drug, at the end of 4 months we did an MRI according doctar suggestion in the result of MRI it has been noted that tb viriuse has been decreased from 14mm to 3mm, but doctar further suggest to take pills for 18 or 24 months in order to be fully recovered. Moreever doctar decrease anti elpeliptic pill from 1500 mg to 1000mg per day. Paiten feels better from previous months but still have good days and bad days and a little bid dizziness in morning while waking up. We try to keep her calm and happy because family issues impact her heath whenever she feels unhappy her right side get weak.
But in overall she feels better from last months, i hope a full revovery for you as well.
Thank you
