Any tips on how to think normally again

I just can stop thinking about food and anorexia even though I do want to gain weight, I try doing things I enjoy to put my mind of but this still does not help. Anyone have any tips without having to talk to anyone about it?

Hey,

Unfortunately the best thing to do is talk I'm afraid. As addicts thats sort of the last thing we want to do but that is what will curb the anorexic voice - I still find it hard reaching out but every time I do the voice is quieter and quieter. It is a tried and tested tool that many have used before us and, I'm afraid, it works!

Reaching out on this site is also good but phone calls and face-to-face chats are the gold standard.

Have you tried ABA? There are groups all over the world and many in London - where are you living?

xx

Sorry but talking is the way forward - perhaps you could talk to the support line at ABC or ask for a befriender - this is anonymous so might help if you can't talk to those around you. The anorexic voice is an extremely powerful one and can easily drown out all other voices - it is also important to look at the reasons behind your thoughts which needs professional help - so do seek some help. Keep in contact with us all - that's a way of talking in itself.
