Any suggestions as to what I could do to prevent myself from binging ? Binge episodes typically occur at the office when I'm feeling overwhelmed and I have a moment of down time. I shut and lock the door to my office after I've raided the goodies stocked in the office kitchen. Thanks.

You need help and support from a professional - so approach your GP and tell them how things are - I know its hard - but you really will need professional help.
In the short term - when I knew a binge was approaching I would phone a friend - and talk about nothing - or go out, make myself get involved in an activity - this often stopped the binge before it happened.
Not sure how helpful this is - but do keep in touch.
If you feel the need to eat and binge sometimes I cut up raw carrot and eat that as it really fills you up. Plus it's really healthy so doesn't matter if you eat lots of it. A craving usually lasts for 20 minutes so just keep putting off the binge. Again not sure how helpful this will be and professional help is the way to go but hopefully this helps in the short term.
After a year of binging everyday and gaining about 8st, I have finally managed to stop and have learnt to control the urges. The key is to keep yourself surrounded by your friends/family coz my guess is that , like most people , you don't want to be seen overeating by others. If you keep busy, schedule all free time to spend with friends, never close the door to the office, don't enter kitchen alone.. These should help!!!
thanks all. Great advice. I have been seeing a therapist for about a year. While she is fully aware of my bingeing issue, we rarely discuss it. Instead the focus of our meetings is the anxiety that overwhelms me in my business. I suppose if I was less anxious, I wouldn't binge so perhaps that's the therapist's intention. Thanks again!
