I've referred to my local mental health services, for my eating disorder, though this will be my first appointment, the letter states that they will assess me, can anyone tell me what this entails please.

An assessment normally covers medical history, questions about your thoughts/ feelings/ behaviours and checking your BMI.

An initial assessment - from my experience - is very general - as above - one thing perhaps to ask is if they have specialists in eating disorders - from experience general mental health support is OK but doesn't really help as much as a real specialist can. I would urge you to be as honest as you can at this meeting - which I know can be really hard and painful - but to get the best help you really do have to tell them "how it is". Will be thinking and praying for you. Keep in touch.

Thank you very much for your answers. I appreciate it. Will let you know how it goes. Thanks again
