How can my lungs get worse so quickly?!?!
I had a
Ventolin
inhaler for when I was breathless and that was it. I had had a
Ventolin
inhaler once before when I was 6 and I had a particularly bad chest infection and ended up with Prednisolone, antibiotics and a puffer, all of which I absolutely hated!

How I Found Out I Was Ill...
we've ever made...surrounded by fields of Oil-Seed Rape and Wheat, I used to spend nights sitting up in bed gasping until I had the wit to go to the local GP...he handed me one of those cardboard tubes to blow in...waited patiently while I went scarlet with the effort and wrote out a prescription for a

Somewhat belated introduction!
They gave me 40mg of Pred. on the spot and we used my spacer (preferring that with my reliever over a nebuliser due to persistent tachycardia) to give me 10 of my
Ventolin

Free Prescriptions for Asthmatics?
If I were to have had to pay prescription charges for the past 6 months alone, that's 3 Ventolins (back win I was going through two canisters a month), 3 spacers, 1 peak flow meter, 2 Clenils, 4 Salamols (spares for ice hockey), another
Ventolin
because the canister from my other one got stolen, 4 rounds

Managing asthma without medication
I can't go to my doctor as I risk discharge so I have been self medicating with becotide and
Ventolin
. I was using medication occasionally but I have to use it daily now.

That's So Not Fair...!
Last time I saw the Consultant she told me I ought not to use the
Ventolin
reliever because the nebuliser should be enough...and if I do get short of breath, to use the short breaths in and long breaths out, pursed lip breathing technique...that takes absolutely forever to work though.

Persistent attacks
I still have to use
ventolin
several times a day. Things become manageable for about two weeks, then it starts up all over again.

What do you think then?
Having said that he is certainly not as ill as I have seen him - he can get to the toilet etc without truly gasping for air and the
ventolin
. Of course the last ab was on Saturday. By Monday he seemed tired but OK - but whatever he has has returned with vengeance.

seritide 125, for 2 year old
Before January he was on the
ventolin
, clenil and montelucus 4mg then changed to seritide 50. After this attack he has been put up to seritide 125 and so far what I have read this dose doesn't seem to be something they like to do with kids.

Constant coughing
He's on
ventolin
and clenil but we stopped the clenil a couple of weeks ago as the local asthma nurse said if he's doing ok we can stop it and see how he is. Last week he had a bit of a cold, nothing too bad, missed one day of school because of a very runny nose.

Clear chest
I have to take my
ventolin
through a spacer constantly now. I can't even put a number on how often I take it because it is just all the time. I sound constantly like I'm out of breath and just walking is exhausting. I haven't got an chest infection and my chest sounds clear.

Does anyone use a
Ventolin
or Pro air albuterol inhaler? If you do, how many times a day do you normally use it?

How to know when inhaler is empty?
Hi Some days take more
ventolin
than others so cannot work out easily. When
ventolin
has gone there are still inactive gases in the canister giving impression there is still some drug inside. I have read about placing canister in a bowl of water and checking that way. Anyone know any other way?

Lots of questions- sorry!
We were managing well with
ventolin
and clenil 50, until last November when the cough increased at night. Then a cold set it off even more and were now on the 3rd course of steroids since then.
