whooping cough??
I have had mild asthma for the past 2 years and about 3 months ago I noticed that I was using my blue a lot more. My mum went into denial I think and so I didn't get to the gp until I woke her up coughing at night. I was given flutiform and a course of pred which seemed to be working. I then went on

Almost new diagnosis and recent attack
Hi All, I've been reading through the forum and you all seem to be really helpful, so I thought I'd ask for a bit of advice I was diagnosed as a toddler and suffered all the way through childhood, but in my early-mid 20s my symptoms disappeared (I'm 33 now). I suffer with hayfever and I would occasionally

Possibly extra things to try...?
Hello lovely coughing people! So... after over a year of brilliant control (mostly), the hurricane and pollen and haymaking have thrown that out the window. Sudden onset but constant coughing / tightness since 6am Sunday. I am lucky to have rescue antibiotics, steroids and nebs at home, so I started

What was in the nebuliser?
Sorry, everybody - I think this might turn out to be quite an essay! Maybe you remember me writing on here about having to cancel our holiday to Greece because of a COPD exacerbation? That was early June and since then, all has been well. The insurance company paid out (hoorah) and we spent some money

argh, side effects
So I was feeling better again over the last week and thought there's hope I get rid of the side effects by eventually taking less meds. This morning my lung volume was somewhat reduced again :( I have Ventolin, which only kind of works when using a nebuliser Salmeterol Montelukas At least the first

Medication timings
I am just about to start a clinical trial, that new drug which is similar to Xolair. I am quite keen to know if the drug is effective in me, my consultant has seen some great results in very similar patients, and so i'm hopefully it could be good for me long term. I am however keen to make things as

Portable nebuliser
Medix World Traveller Hi-Flo Nebuliser Is there anyone that is in need of a nebuliser? I have had it for several years as I had asthma, which seems to be under control now. It would probably need a service and a new mask and the medication has to be prescribed by a doctor. I live in Thorpe Bay in Essex

Inhaler changes
So I have had an exercise induced wheeze for years, always taken salbutamol inhaler. For months possibly years my mum and stepmum have been on about my nighttime cough. This summer it has suddenly got worst so I finally went to the asthma nurse, my peak flows are normally about 50% of my best in the

Air driven vs. oxygen driven nebs
Hi guys! I ended up being admitted to a different hospital from my usual local one last week and they had to ring up my normal consultant. She asked them to change my air-driven nebs to oxygen-driven ones (which is what I usually have when I'm in), although I wasn't hypoxic. Does anybody have any idea

Prednisolone Problems?
Has anyone else found that Prednisolone actually seems to exacerbate their symptoms? I felt an exacerbation of my copd coming on - increased breathlessness, pain on breathing, so having been in hospital with an infection recently, I thought it best to use my rescue pack at the first sign. Three days

Possible pneumonia, advice anyone please
Hi everyone, 5 months ago or so I left my window open over night and woke up early in the morning with sharp stabbing pains in my chest, causing breathlessness, shallow breathing and tightness. The room was extremely cold and therefore made the link. I saw my GP who told me it was related to my asthma

How long does it usually take to get. Over a bad attack?
Hi, last week I knew I was getting yet another chest infection felt really yuck but battled on as I was afraid to stay off work. Last Tuesday I went to Drs after work, was immediately put on a nebuliser while dr decided wether I was a blue light ambulance ride to hospital. To this point I was still insisting

Portable nebulisers
Hi , I use a nebuliser at home, which is issued by the hospital . It's fine for use at home but runs of the mains and is big and bulky. Can anyone recommend a portable one. I am also going to a music festival in August and would need to take a nebuliser with me. thanks Carolyn
