New medication
Hi all My respiratory consultant has prescribed me carbocisteine to try in addition to taking Symbicort 400, Tiotropium bromide and Montelukast. The pharmacist 'warned' me that they would make me sleepy (and nauseous) but the leaflet says I can operate machinery and drive etc. I was just wondering

I have mild COPD.I develop dysphonia when using a steroid inhaler. How can this be avoided;I take the usual precautions -spacer and gargling ? I use the Spiriva Tiotropium inhaler which is helpful.I understand Spiolto respirat combination inhaler is better. What experiences have you had ? Peter

Nebulisers
I am currently struggling with a nasty pneumonia in hospital and was distressed to find that I had another bad reaction to nebulisers. Just simple saline the other night and ventolin plus a Similar one to my tiotropium inhaler today. Renders me terrible breathless and wheezy and drives doctors mad!

Is asthma a disability
Hello I was diagnosed with asthma 5 years ago at the age of 35. It took a couple of years before the correct treatment was given, after being hospitalized 2 times. I was also diagnosed with early state Bronchiectasis, given a leaflet on it and that was it. Up until a year ago, I had been fine, I was

A bit worried.
Good evening everybody, patricia7 here, I just wanted to let you all know what has been going on. I filled out a form for ESA at the same time I had to fill in a new claim for PIP, sent that off on Monday; a bit worried about that, they say it can take 16 weeks to make a decision. I have had a bad

Lung denerving
I've deleted my earlier post about the lung denerving story that appeared in the Daily Mail because I noticed afterwards that Gilly, the women featured in the article, has kindly talked about it in an earlier post. However, I did not realise that Pastmebest had posted an answer to that post and he couldn't

Fostair
I was diagnosed with COPD 6 years ago. I take tiotropium once a day and was taking symbicort twice a day. Symbicort was substituted by Fostair 4 weeks ago. Since then I have been bothered with contstipation. I'm not sure if that is the cause or not. Has anyone else had this problem with Fostair

Asthma fine during exercise but rubbish afterwards?
Hello! I had really poorly controlled asthma for a while until I was diagnosed with Addison's a few years ago. Now it mostly behaves itself (on seretide and tiotropium and montelukast) except during pollen season when I need extra oral steroids and regular abx. One of the fab things is that I can now

I have had COPD for over 20 years, I gave up smoking 19 years ago. I also have osteoarthritis, Type 2 Diabetes, fibromyalgia and had my large bowel and rectum removed 15 years ago due to Ulcerative Colitis so, as you can probably appreciate I am no quitter. The problem bothering me at present is that

COPD Going Backwards ?
I was diagnosed with COPD around 2012. The diagnosis was moderate, but I think that perhaps it was at the bad end of moderate. I had at least one flare up due to a chest infection which saw me hospitalized for a short period. I was in a right state before going into Hospital. The infection saw me waking

It is not rocket science...
A few folk have asked me what my own healthy living programme to manage COPD is like...so here goes-it works for me, though I appreciate it may not work for everyone. A typical week will include A reasonable amount of exercise, inc. daily 2-3 PR exercises, different ones each day, walking 20-60 minutes
