Tetrabenazine

The procyclidine was not considered to be effective so was replaced with tetrabenazine. A day or so later, the uncontrollable limb movements were virtually gone; the mouth movements were much better but still present when she tried to speak. When she was alseep, there was no movements.

Tetrabenazine is in NZ and its profile for success and sideeffects less good and unfortunate. In hospital the pharmacist and psychiatrist collaborated and stopped my asthma med that I took so I could breathe on the ciggie smoking ward workplace.

Also, drugs that deplete dopamine such as reserpine and tetrabenazine may worsen Parkinson’s disease and parkinsonism and should be avoided in most cases.

I tried Tetrabenazine for a few weeks, but again - very little difference. It did make me incredibly sleepy but unfortunately also made me incredibly suicidal.

I have tried Tetrabenazine and am now on Sulpiride but none of them seem to work. What other medication or therapies do people reccomend.
