Finding the right inhaler/medication
I have tried a number of different preventers including beclometasone,
salmeterol
(Serevent) etc. All of them improve my breathing but 4-5 days in I end up with crippling muscle aches and back pain.

Seretide
I have just been put on Seretide 125 [
salmeterol
/fluticasone propionate] to be used with a spacer by the specialist instead of Quaver 50. Will i find that when i get this working [doc says 2 weeks] that i will be able to come off the steroid tablets and feel as good as i do on them?

also there seems to be stange rumors about
salmeterol
lowering lung resistances and increasing death rate which is rather worrying! are there any other inhalers/pills available for stoping night time wheezing?

Seretide/Fostair
I understand that basically it contans beclometasone (instead of fulticasone) and formeterol (instead of
salmeterol
), and the letter also says that because the drugs are dissolved rather than suspended in the propellant there is better delivery to the lungs.

Advice please, pain in ribs!!
I recovered better in the UK and stopped the
salmeterol
because it was making me tight and had to use salbutamol to relive it. I returned to Germany after the summer, hoping it would be seasonal but immediately went downhill.

Huge THANK YOU :)
My GP has just started me on an additional
salmeterol
inhaler to complement my current regime of pred, seretide 500 (yep you can still get it!), ventolin, theophylline and singulair (as well as a multitude of antihistamines!)

Salitair Dry Salt Pipe

Salmeterol
doesn't seem to be working for me at all. Yesterday I got my lowest PF reading ever, and my chest is still constantly tight, and not seeing my doc again for another week.

Halleluyah! Doc finally listened and changed my meds
I was still having the asthma problems on taking the meds, and despite knocking off the
Salmeterol
, was still having the problem with Clenil. Add a heavy cold, and last week saw me on a short course of Pred. That sorted out the basic asthma, but was still having probs at inhaler medication time.

Salmeterol and Crushing Chest Pain
I am now on
Salmeterol
(for a month) and have a crushing tight discomfort in my left side. I am getting to the end of my patience with it all and feel I am never away from the doctor/nurse but to no avail. I had a chest x-ray at the end of September which came back clear.

Reaction to cold?
My doctor got my symptoms under control by adding
salmeterol
to my meds, but I seem to have hit a plateau - mainly coughing in response to cold air, cold food & exercise (sometimes just fast walking or stairs).

Beclametasone + salmeterol versus Symbicort
Hi Just wondered what the difference was and is a combined inhaler anymore effective? I take the drugs seperately. Jen
