Gap Year
Hi, I'm going on a gap year next year, teaching in Beijing, and was wondering if anyone knows anything about the medical facilities out there? and about getting meds? (I take seretide, pred, salbutamol, telfast, and carry epi-pens) Would I need to take a years supply (is that possible?!) or are they

Salbutamol Nebulisers in the fridge??
Hello, I got some more nebulisers today as I do every couple of weeks. These ones are made by a company called 'Breath'. The pharmacist told me when I collected them they have to be stored in the fridge. I've never heard of this before, nebulisers in fridges?! Has anyone been told to do this before?

How do you know when to go to the doctor?
Okay let me start off by giving a bit of background information. I was diagnosed a couple of years ago, I'm generally mild and exercise induced, I only use salbutamol and antihistamines as far as medication for asthma. The nurse keeps saying we might put you onto a steroid inhaler but we'll see. So my

HDU - Little bit of advice?
I think I've possibly had the wake up call which I've needed. Ended up getting ambulance out last night because of chest tightness/feeling wheezy/really unwell, I got told that my chest wasn't too wheezy, but my oxygen levels were all over, they were going from 95%, - 86% - 98% - 85% within 30 seconds

Beclometasone and Pain
Since February this year, I have been experiencing on and off breathlessness and was on
Salbutamol
(reliever) and have tried Symbicort (preventer). I have tried used
Beclometasone
3 times now and every I time I use it for over a week, I suffer anxiety, shaking and general restlessness.

long term use of inhalers? is it safe?
Being fairly new to the asthma diagnosis, despite a very very long history of lung problems (going back 32 years in fact) i'm just wondering what the effects of long term inhaler use if any may be. I'm currently on beclomethasone, serevent and salbutamol due to asthma triggered by highly allergic reaction

At the ""inbetween GP and hospital"" stage and struggling...
...don't you hate this phase?? on rescue doses (10-12 puffs through spacer) of salbutamol every 3-6 hours for tightness, coughing and spluttering and breathlessness. got prednisolone and on maximum serevent and flixotide. Not ill enough for hospital treatment as rescue doses are working, but too poorly

When to go to hospital?
I don't feel I'm in any particular danger currently when posting this, so hope it is within the rules. I've had asthma since childhood, and since being diagnosed I was very stable on my meds till last year when I've become increasingly uncontrolled. I am currently on Symbicort 400 twice daily, Montelukast

Need to start getting some exercise...
OK I hope this isnt an insensitive question as I know a lot of the people on this forum are in much poorer health than I, but I am desperate to get back down the gym and climbing too. I broke my hand at the end of last year so missed out for several weeks then so between that and my recent asthma attacks

It seems that my usual medication isn't having the 'desired' effects and I have now been given a different inhaler to replace my Beclometasone inhaler. Ban of CFC Beclometasone inhalers - clenil modulite, salmeterol.
Asthma sufferers uch as myself will know this inhaler as 'the brown one' - the one with the steroids. I have been using a similar inhaler to this all my life - usage being twice in the morning and twice at night. However, I was recently pescribed a new inhaler on my repeat pescription (clenil modulite

Newly Diagnosed
Hi Everyone I gave up smoking after 30 years on 1st August this year and within three weeks of being smoke-free, I had my first asthma attack :-( I have Atrovent at night and also have a Salbutamol Reliever during the day if I need it. Which I've needed quite regularly recently after a big attack.
