Generic rasagiline (Azilect) prescription filled, seems about the same
I was worried when I got to the pharmacy this past Tuesday and they told me they had filed my prescription with a generic form of azilect. After taking it for a couple of days, it seems to work no differently. The only difference I notice is the generic pill tastes metallic where the original tasted

Help me re MAO-B inhibitors like "irreversible" Azilect
"
Rasagiline
(Azilect, TVP-1012, N-propargyl-1(R)-aminoindan) is an irreversible inhibitor of monoamine oxidase-B". So the question is, why do we need to continue to take it? The effect was irreversible. Why isn't a few doses sufficient for a lifetime?

Levodopa Equivalent Plasma Levels App
For instance,
rasagiline
is effective for the whole 24 hours, whereas levodopa lasts for about 4 hours. Roughly speaking, therefore, levodopa is 6 times stronger than
rasagiline
, but the
rasagiline
lasts about 6 times as long. I've written an app to do the calculations and draw the graphs.

So, in summary, what should I do/not do?!
I'm not yet on any medication although the consultant mentioned starting me on
Rasagiline
soon because he thinks it 'might' slow the progression.

Compounds that prevent a-syn misfolding
morin, auraptene (VERY expensive) less likely in one good paper, but still very possible ======================== Ginkgolide B (ginkgo) Genistein (ginseng) olive oil (ellagic acid) Quercetin (e.g. apples) Non-plant compounds =============== nilotinib (pharmaceutical, primarily by increasing AMPK)

Fisetin for PD
" In January 2015 I became intolerant of
rasagiline
and synthroid, stopping both in February 2015. Without the
rasagiline
, I have more tremor, etc, but am able to function well. I'm currently taking 6 carbidopa/levodopa 25/100, and one 25/100 CR at 10 PM.

Rasagiline or Selegiline?
Today I saw a new Parkinson's Nurse and she suggested that an MAO-B inhibitor might suit me better ie
Rasagiline
or Selegiline. I have an appointment with the consultant in two weeks time and am looking for questions to ask. Has anyone been on either (or both) of these and found them helpful?

Tyramine in food and Rasagiline/Selegiline
Continuing my previous post on these drugs, has anyone had any problems with food interactions? I do not fancy having to cut pizzas and cheese from my diet.

L-Dopa or Azilect (rasagiline) positively affecting mental states?
Has anyone tried going off L-DOPA (or carbidopa) or Azilect (
rasagiline
) and noticed a change in thinking such as being more critical of people or more easily irritated?

IF YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT.. BEFORE PD, I WAS A CHEESE BURGER.
Those who take MAO-B inhibitors (
rasagiline
or selegiline) should eat with moderation – but not eliminate – foods that contain high concentrations of tyramine. MAO-B inhibitors increase tyramine, and the combination could elevate blood pressure.
