After nearly eight years
Hi everyone, I had my "shark bite"
oesophagectomy
nearly eight years ago, I've had all the usual problems, dumping, reflux, etc. and I've been underweight and thin because of lack of appetite, and vomiting.

My father had his esophagectomy done 10 months ago, but he is still losing weight. He is scary thin now and im so scared. Seems like he still cant eat enough calories, plus he is severely depressed, which makes him feels too weak to exercise. Now he is having persistent cough and lots of mucus, im guessing

Probiotics or not
I am 11 years post op and like most others that have had an
Oesophagectomy
still have problems with digestion and probably always will have. A few months ago I asked my GP would a daily probiotic supplement help she said with my digestive system it would probably help.

New to this :( Oesophagectomy and Type 1 Diabetes
Part of the problem is that he's a Type 1 diabetic and he can't see how he'll be able to manage it after the
oesophagectomy
. Is there anyone on here with experience of that?

New here: T1 and oesophagectomy/reduced food intake
He has been diagnosed recently with an aggressive oesophageal cancer requiring an
oesophagectomy
, which means he will have a very small tube-like stomach and will only ever be able to eat around 50% of what he eats now.

Achalasia Spasms
It is not something that is the result of having had an
oesophagectomy
. It can be about the oesophagus becoming really painful, almost as if one is suffering a heart attack.

Hi I had a cardio
oesophagectomy
for cancer 20 months ago, a long recovery as I'm sure you know but up to now has been fairly uneventful. About 3 weeks ago I lost my voice and have been to my doctor twice.

Chest pain 24/7
I had an Ivor Lewis
oesophagectomy
just over 5 years ago for stage 2b oesophageal cancer. For the past 12 months I have had chronic chest pain that is on the right side and moves around to under my right breast and shoulder. It can be a sharp stabbing pain or heavy pressure feeling.

acid reflux
Hi there, I had an
oesophagectomy
3 years ago. I take Lanzoprazole 30mg twice daily. I am having the most vile acid reflux, it wakes me up and then I am unwell for 2 - 3 days afterwards. I have had a barium swallow, and a chest x-ray, nothing was found on these.

Any experience, suggestions regarding brain metastases found 8 months after having oesophagectomy.
My husband had his oedophago-gastrectomy (adenocarcinoma) 8 months ago(Sep 2016). He had been recovering quite well until past month. Then some seemingly minor problems with right side of body, weakness, drop foot, some tremors, memory problems started to appear. He just thought he had been over doing

Low blood protein and swollen legs
Hi Four and a half years after
oesophagectomy
I've now started having swollen legs which, having done blood tests, my GP says is due to low blood protein, presumably due to my inability to digest proteins properly since the op.

SIBO THIRD TIME
I am eighteen months post Ivor Lewis two part
oesophagectomy
, and apart from SIBO I still suffer with rib and back pain (for which I take Tramadol) and common occurrences of food dumping and hypoglycemia and fatigue.

Blood tests
Hi all this is the first time I have posted anything on here. I am now 3 1/2 years post op from having an Esophagectomy. Please could anyone offer me any advise. I just wondered if anyone has regular blood tests. My GP is never forthcoming and I always have to negotiate in getting one. The reason I ask

Dumping and eating/drinking at the same time
I'm not 11 years post op and generally doing well (
oesophagectomy
and partial gastorectomy) I've managed to stabilise my weight and starting to enjoy eating again. Has anyone been able to get back to eating and drinking at the same time, as I do miss a cup of tea with a biscuit?
