Hope This Helps
Luckily they had caught it early and I went straight to an
oesophagectomy
with no need for chemo. If you suffer heartburn, get checked and if you are diagnosed with Barrett’s make sure they keep on top of it.

Gastroparesis Nightmare
I was diagnosed with Gastroparesis and the surgeon who did my esophagectomy would also perform my pyloromyotomy. I got a 2nd opinion first to confirm I did have Gastroparesis and I did. On 12/11 the Dr. performed the surgery and I was sent home the same day with liquid diet restrictions although my research

I was diagnosed in April 2020 with Esophageal cancer. I had chemo/radiation for 6 weeks, 4 weeks recuperation then an esophagectomy. Gastroparesis
6 months post op for esophagectomy. I was ok until about 3 weeks ago. Pain now the moment I eat or drink more than a sip of water. Dr. said I’ve developed gastroparesis and his solution is to cut my pyloric valve. The top valve was already taken during the esophagectomy and now he wants to clip the other

Headaches and gut health
I am 13 years post
oesophagectomy
and are being reviewed for satiety. About six months ago I was prescribed Ciprofloxacin and Flagyl for a bacterial overgrowth in my gut. I had an amazing result. Symptoms massively improved. They have mainly fallen back now but I was great for about six weeks.

Weight Loss
I had my
oesophagectomy
ten years ago. Before the op. I weighed 13 stone, after I weighed 10 stone, no problem, not unusual for most of us. For nine years I stayed at around this weight, but about a year ago I started to lose weight.

Esophagectomy issues. Advice or shared experience please.
I'm 4 months post op of my esophagectomy. The past couple of weeks seems like I've taken about 20 steps back from healing. Experiencing dumping after even the smallest of meals and pain/discomfort near the upper part of my "stomach" or what's left of my stomach and chest area. I was maintaining my weight

Adjuvant FLOT chemo
Hi,8 weeks post IL esophagectomy, after a meeting with oncology this morning,I have been advised to take the second round of chemo,as 7 of the 67 lymph nodes were positive for cancer..And it would reduce the risk of it returning by 20%...Had anybody else been down this road ,and how was it..tia...Marc

Husband had oesophagectomy on 9th June
He was doing so well. Eating jelly and ice cream by the 4/5th day. He then developed a leak so went back to nil by mouth. Last night they took him back to Intensive Care and at one point were talking about putting him on a ventilator. They haven't done that yet but he is apparently quite confused and

Post-op care for oesophagectomy patient
Hi, my husband has oesophageal cancer in Barrett’s Oesophagus (T2 N1 M0); completed chemo-radiation treatments and scheduled for surgery on 2/6/2020. Is there anyone here with similar diagnosis to provide information on their post-op experience and how can I best care for my husband?

Vocal chord issues
Just wondering if anyone after esophagectomy surgery had vocal chord damage due to breathing tube. I have also had 9 dilations due to leakage at surgery which caused scar tissue in the past year. If so what was the remedy? Thank you.
