Natural desiccated thyroid (NDT)

I used to see a doctor privately, who had my blood tested every year and prescribed NDT to me, but he has retired and I am somewhat lost. My GP is prescribing levothyroxine, but I don’t really feel well, ever.

I am trying to fund suppliers of T3 &/or NDT that works to try to increase my T3 levels. Please can anyone assist replying by PM. Many thanks 😊

I have been taking NDT for 8 weeks and had my blood test yesterday. Results are attached. I initially felt much better but in the last couple of weeks I have felt the fatigue creep back in a little so was thinking I may need to increase my dose a little following my blood test.

I have been on NDT for many years now, first through Dr. P, and then sourcing on my own over the internet.

I've been on ndt and t3 but always self sorced. But I was hoping to get t3 on percripton. The gp has said I now have to do another 8 weeks cut down to 150 because of course I'm over meditated with my t4 high .I know I'm not .

A while later, I switched to NDT - on and off again and it got worse, so back to levo again (and for other reasons as well) and it's still there on and off. Yes, I have Hashi, but I've been having it for well over a decade and have never had such weird symptoms.

Considering having NDT compounded, to not have lactose & as few ingredients as possible. We do not have a lactose,-free levothyroxine in Canada. And I know Thyroid S has lactose. The pharmacist has asked me about cellulose as the filler, and how I do on that.

im doing a little traveling in Greece, Albania and Montenegro and wondered if anyone had any experience of picking up thyroid meds ( specifically NDT) in any of those places?

I’m currently on T4 (150 mcg)+T3 (30mcg) combination (taking 1.5 Novothyral; 1 Novothyral has 100mcg T4 and 20mcg T3, I hope my math is correct), but decided to try Thyroid S NDT. Any suggestions which dose to use? And should I split it during the day, the way I do with the combination therapy?

Hi I would love recommendations for sane and sensible endocrinologists in the UK who do correct and fully thyroid testing and prescribe either t4 and t3 or NDT. Thank you!

I monitored my blood pressure for 4 weeks prior to the change of medication and then in weeks 2-6 after changing over to NDT. Blood pressure on synthetic hormones averaged 129/85, pulse 75; blood pressure on Armour averaged 135/89, pulse 75.

T4 makes sense since it is NDT, yes? I am currently on 155 mg Erfa. Have had to jump all the place due to border issues, cost and serious levothyroxine issues. We have no lactose-free levothyroxine choice in Canada. **I do not feel that bad right now. Not fantastic but not bad. So ????

Am working on questioning the present assumption in medical circles that in being hypothyroid during pregnancy T3 or NDT should be removed and only T4 be utilised. 

I know that "pooling" is a contentious topic in the thyroid world and seems to have little scientific backing, it refers to the phenomenon of FT3 being high in blood results in spite of persistent hypothyroid symptoms & signs and/or being on a relatively low dose of T3/T4/NDT.

B12 v high, D 98-101, Ferritin 77.8, FBC normal,Cortisol AM high 23 (presume NDT t3) rest normal.

I currently use NDT. After much consideration and advice, I have decided not to go down the HRT route and have decided to research natural ways to help rebalance hormones instead. Thanks!!

my eyes are starting to have a slight bulge under them again which was all but gone on the previous NDT (which I can’t source anymore) Has anyone had similar experiences on changing from one to the other please?
