Open heart surgery
I had my first meeting with the surgical team at Papworth yesterday . I’m now pencilled in for an aortic valve replacement in June. We discussed my AF , the effects of surgery on episodes after and anticoagulants . Interestingly they stated that oral anticoagulants reduce the risk of stroke by 60/70%

Pulmonary Regurgitation - Breathlessness?
Hi all, I had a pulmonary valve replacement when I was 21 in 2013. I am 32 now, as the years have passed, the valve has started to leak. I have been told the leak is now severe. I am unsure if I am experiencing symptoms as I have major health anxiety (I bet I'm not the only one!), so I can never really

mitral valve regurgitation and AF
Hello . I was diagnosed with mild to moderate MVR last November . No symptoms other than slight breathlessness . Yesterday on another echocardiogram I was informed I have AF - no symptoms at all . It has made me very anxious . Has anyone else experience of both ? I am 57 , very very fit , not overweight

I got my date for my Op ! Excited 😊
I have a damaged mitral valve with stenosis and regurgitation ( caused by Rheumatic fever as a child) Started getting symptoms 8 years ago and gradually I have deteriorated. My last echo in March showed the stenosis had got worse. I was told they wanted to try a Valvuplasty repair before the OH valve

Aortic valve replacement
I was born with a buscupid aortic valve with no issues it was all monitored for years and i am now 51. However I’ve recently been diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis. I’m due a valve replacement at the end of the month and possibly root replacement, however the surgeon is yet to make a decision on

INR control
Hi don't know if this is of any interest to anyone ,but my INR has always been impossible to stabilize My heamatologist suggested taking a small dose of vitamin K and increasing the warfarin dose I didn't do this as don't want to be taking any more supplements, So I decided to massively increase my intake

Decision to make
Hi, I’ve been told I need to have a valve replacement and can’t make my mind up between a mechanical valve and Ross procedure. I’m 46 so if I have the Ross procedure I’ll need to get another replacement in 20 years or so. The mechanical valve looks like it will make my diet complicated , I need to reduce

newly diagnosed valve replacement
Hi, Brand new here. Recently diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis. Saw the cardiologist 4 days ago. Need to have TOE, ct scan, lung capacity test, meet surgeon then put on his list for valve replacement. The waiting is driving me insane. When I had echo 7 weeks ago the chap that did it rushed
