Hi ….from a newly dx’d comrade from the UK
I have a
lumpectomy
& sentinel lymph node removal scheduled for the 28th March. Drs Initial plan was for removal, tamoxifen & chemo….but that may have changed since MRI Undecided if I should just go for mastectomy though and I’ve read that tamoxifen is better for pre-menopausal women.

I had 7mm bc removed via
lumpectomy
, due to have radiotherapy soon, no chemo required. I am really struggling with the possible side effects of this drug. I know we are all individuals but just wondered if side effects are as hideous as I'm imagining?

CA 27-29 has your tumor marker test ever gone into normal range
I had ER+,PR+, HER2- breast cancer in 2014 with
lumpectomy
with 4 rounds of chemo and 32 rounds of radiation. In 2022, diagnosed metastatic to bone only. Even after treatment in 2014 my tumor marker test always ran in the 20s. Less than 38 is normal and more than 38 is abnormal.

I had to put off my breast MRI (I had stage 0 bc treated with
lumpectomy
and radiation in the summer of 2021). I have to get MRI every six months... all has been clear so far, but I was in too much back discomfort to do it this past Sept. Too many things!

COPD and Radiation for Breast Cancer
I am being treated at a top cancer center in the US and they definitely promote
lumpectomy
plus radiation over mastectomy. I am almost 70 years old and a widow, and I really don't care if I lose my breasts. If I have the
lumpectomy
, I must have radiation.

I was diagnosed with HER 2+ breast cancer last year and had a
lumpectomy
, chemo, and radiation. I am currently taking anastrozole, have tried letrozole, and tamoxifen. Am having a really hard time with joint pain, fatigue and some depression (which I already had before the breast cancer).

Hi from the UK
I’ve recently been diagnosed with Lobular BC in the right side, will be going for
lumpectomy
& node removal next week. I’m here to learn more about LBC and what to watch for in the future, plus make sure my cancer team are ‘on the ball’ with up to date lobular treatments etc.

Hi At age 32 I had a triple negative tumour removed (
lumpectomy
) followed by chemo and radiotherapy. Fast forward 31 years I have just had a mastectomy after I had an oestrogen positive tumour. No chemo needed-phew!

Tamoxifen switch to Femara (letrozole)
Also, I am wondering if anyone with HR+/HER2- stage 1 invasive ductal carcinoma with no lymph node involvement removed through
lumpectomy
followed by 3 weeks of radiotherapy has just chosen not to take the anti-estrogen meds and what led you to that decision. thanks for an insights!

I had stage II, non aggressive so I chose to do a
lumpectomy
. .Today someone said she’s glad she didn’t take the easy road. Her choice was a mastectomy. When dealing with a cancer diagnosis, there is NO easy option.

I had breast cancer 4.5 years ago (
lumpectomy
and radiotherapy only - very lucky) and have been on tamoxifen since then. Due to finish tamoxifen in July 2024. Apparently the taking of this drug increased my chances of endometrial cancer … and that’s what I had. Stage 1B.

Newbie Here with CA 27.29 Question
I was diagnosed with Invasive Lobular in right breast in 2020, subsequently had
lumpectomy
and then 5 1/2 weeks of radiation. I’ve been on Anastrazole since. My diagnostic mammograms have been clear. The last one was in July.

radiation fibrosis and lymphedema
On January 27th I completed 4 weeks of whole breast radiation plus 4 weeks of a radiation boost to the site of my most recent
lumpectomy
. Now three months later I have developed pockets of lymphedema under my arm, and also fibrosis (scar tissue) from the radiation. It is very painful.

Lumpectomy and CKD with eGFR 23%
I am due to have a
lumpectomy
and sentinel lymph node removal using radioactive dye. My eGFR is only 23%. After the operation I am due to have radiation therapy. Has anyone else had this done and do you know if the radiation or dye will lower my eGFR of 23%.

Need Support
When the call came that I have breast cancer for the third time, I was adamant that I wouldn't undergo a mastectomy - unfortunately, the onc surgeon does not think she can do a
lumpectomy
because of a previous
lumpectomy
and the difficulty of providing a blood supply to the remaining tissue.
