Naming our drugs-how does that happen?
He went on to teach me that the suffix -nib means the drug is an inhibitor like afatnib which is used as a TKI inhibitor(also know as
Gilotrif
). So today I read this blog about naming drugs. If your curious how yours came to be named check it out. https://lungcancer.net/clinical/drugs-names?

Anyone on Gilotrif/Afatinib?
It doesn’t seem like
Gilotrif
is commonly given, even the doctor said it. I was curious if anyone had been on it and how’s it’s worked. We are prepared for the side effects.

Gilotrif Afitanib is a joke
The highest doseage of this drug (40mg) turned my well-respected body literally into a garbage dump. So the doctor tried me on the 30mg version which was worse in every respect than the 40mg. My skin was falling off and I looked like a leper. I was going to go completely off of all of it and the doctor

Gilotrif/Afatinib
I am EGFR positive and have been taking
gilotrif
/ Afatinib for almost 2 months now. I was wondering if there is anyone out there on this drug and is it working? I will have scans again on the 17th. Of this month. I try and stay positive.

Giotrif afartinib and mouth sores
my husband is one week and 2 days into this targeted therapy for lung cancer and his mouth is so sore. Has anyone experience of managing this or any knowledge of whether the side effects ease in time ? Thank you Tracey

Has anyone had any experience of Afatinib?
In order to support a submission to the Scottish medicines consortium (SMC) for the availability of Afatinib (
Gilotrif
) which is a targeted (biological) therapy it would be helpful to hear from anyone that may have experience of it either through your Consultant or as part of a clinical trial
