Flecainide

I was diagnosed with Af in May of this year and prescribed Flecainide, 1 tablet at night plus Rivaroxaban (although I had been on this since 2017).

I was put onto bisoprolol because of this, the arrhythmia nurses specifically said: [i]when on regular flecainide with organised atrial arrhythmias a beta blocker is indicated.

Does anyone on flecainide experience muscle weakness and shakiness/twitching in hands and legs? It does seem to be a side effect but not perhaps a common one. Thank you.

I use flecainide as ‘pill in pocket’ and so far this has worked. Since diagnosis I’ve only seen a cardiologist once shortly after my first episode and that was only because a clinician friend asked her colleague to see me as absolutely NO follow up has ever been forthcoming.

The biggest miracle of all was that when I went off of Flecainide five days before surgery, nothing happened and I stayed in sinus rhythm.

Since late October and since a medication change (bisoprolol reduced from 2.5mg to 1.25mg and a maintenance dose of flecainide 50mg twice per day instead of 100mg PIP) I haven't had an episode of AF.

Was told I could try Flecainide but was up to me no rush. Got the tablets then strangely I went into normal rhythm that evening so didn't take. Had 10 days in normal rhythm then went back in AF and have been in now for 24 days. My dilemma is I feel really well now.

Has anyone been on it long term and still feel wonderful (also on Bisoprolol, Flecainide, Losartan & Apixaban) xx TIA everyone, been a bit slow to respond lately due to issues but will asap xx

Last night out of the blue I started an episode of AF and took 50mg flecainide and 2.5 mg bisoprolol but 6 hours later I am still in AF. Incidentally this is my first episode since 2013. I don’t know what to do as I am worried about flying back to UK tomorrow on a 4 hour flight.

Looking forward to getting off the Flecainide after my 90 days and hoping to feel even better then.

Is anybody else on Flecainide 100 or more for a prolonged period? Is that the highest dose? Thanks all for your insight.

I’m on Flecainide , bisoprolol for AF plus Apixaban,. Melatonin is supposed to aid sleep , does anyone on the group have experience using melatonin with the above , the pharmacist I’ve spoken to said there shouldn’t be a problem but didn’t sound too reassuring.

I also have had PAF since 2003 and on PIP (200 mg flecainide plus 1.25 bisoprolol). Haven’t had any episodes for about 12 months but used to have 3-4 episodes a year lasting up to 38 hours. With AF you never know when an episode starts.

I have come across the below research paper that established in their sample, that the max HR achieved during exercise for those on Flecainide was 12% of theoretical Max HR lower than those not on Flecainide. Looks like my suspicions have been confirmed.

Hi, I'm currently on 150mg of Flecainide twice daily and (dare I say this..!)

I therefore started Varapamil again, to which Flecainide was added when symptoms increased in frequency and duration.

I have been diagnosed with PVC and taking 50 mg of flecainide twice daily. Are there any suggestions .

With pill-in-the-pocket Flecainide (and no betablockers or anticoagulation either). I had read everything I could on the subject, taken all the right supplements and experimented with a gluten-free or lactose-free diet.

I had an ablation ten days ago and, notwithstanding the fact that I get 100 mg flecainide and 2.5 mg bisoprolole twice a day, after ablation each night as soon as I get in bed and relax Afib starts for 9 or 10 hours, each single night.

My AF meds are Flecainide Bisoprolol Apixiban & Simvastatin also take Cod liver oil Magnesium & Vit B12. Any advice on when to take Iron as don’t want to affect AF stability. Anyone taking this combination please help
