Mum critically ill in ICU, been12 days and counting

My mum was admitted with a severe sore throat, that turned into epiglottitis, followed by double pneumonia, deep set mediastinitis and septic shock. The docs gave her 48 hours to live....devastated! She is still clinging on though.

(We thought it might be a chest infection) After being in a coma two years ago with epiglottitis, which resulted in a two bouts of pneumonia from the ventilator and a small PE on the lung.

It is fatal to Google want to know more, if it is Epiglottitis could be serious 999, Tracheostomy. I don't believe it is and neither does he or he would have got me x ray straight away I hope! ha Has anyone had problem with this and if it is what to expect, treatment?

Two weeks into Pred - then!

I had meant to do more in depth reading before tomorrow but I had to rush my husband in to A&E on Saturday with the diagnosis of Super Epiglottitis. I have been concentrating on him with such a serious condition. He is on 100 mg of steroids so my 15 mg is a drop in the ocean.
