Chemo not working for bone mets
After a few weeks he started on 6 sessions (18 weeks) of
docetaxel
chemotherapy and Eligard/ leuprorelin shots ( every 3 mos). His PSA was 31 at the start and has come down to 1.7 as of early October. Yesterday he had a skull-thigh CT scan (BC/BS denied him a physician-requested PET scan).

Keeping my arms, legs, hands and feet inside the ride
I did
docetaxel
for 4 cycles starting in June until Sept 1 (second time with this treatment). PSA started to go up in last cycle. So we hit up insurance to see if I could do cabazitaxel and carboplatin. They denied i the combo(much to the chagrin of my MO) but approved Xofigo.

Please advice - 3months after Xtandi
Was on
Docetaxel
6 session from August to Nov 2019. PSA dropped to the lowest at 0.149 in Dec 2019...and started to creep up 2.33 in July 2020. In between those time, continue with Lucrin and zometa ( Qtrly).

Anyone here diagnosed with secondary cancer after chemo and radiation for prostate cancer?
We are dealing with a very resistant type of prostate cancer and as a result, my husband has had carboplatin,
docetaxel
, Lupron, Zytiga, and consolidating radiation all within 16 months. I’m now wondering about secondary cancers associated with the aforementioned treatments.

Follow up to the Follow up: Auximen Scan showed significant new cancerous growth
In the meantime, I have been approved for
Docetaxel
, so I can begin chemotherapy if nothing I am doing works. I will be speaking to an Oncologist at the National Cancer Institute on Tuesday next week. I found a childhood friend that works at the NIH who facilitated this appointment.

PSA drop to 0.48
Grandads PSA has dropped down to 0.48 after treatment of 13 cycles of
docetaxel
, lueprorelin shot and is currently taking daily bicalutamide. Although everyone seems to be happy in the family about the PSA dropping I would of liked it to come down to nadir!!! Is this of concern ...

Update 3: End of Chemotherapy - Docetaxel
Hi, Last Friday, October 2nd, my father completed the 6 cycle of
docetaxel
, as planned. The same morning, he was in consultation with his oncologist, who informed him that, like bone scan, CT does not show metastases.

Looking for suggestions
Then 35 days of radiation, Eligard every 4 months, X Tandi for 15 months and most recently 4 sessions of Chemo (
Docetaxel
) The irony is that my PSA jumped from 3 to 13 while on the chemo. Any hints of which direction to look next?

Follow up: Auximen Scan showed significant new cancerous growth and there is a whirlwind of information to absorb and choices to be made.
Chemotherapy-likely
Docetaxel
. 3. Radium 223 to treat the disease in my bones appears to be the only problem areas. No evidence of lymph nodes, soft tissue, or organs being involved. 4. Immunotherapy--both institutions have multiple phase 2 and phase 1 trials going.

PIK3CA mutation
I've had
docetaxel
(fail) Cabazitaxel (fail) carboplatin (fail) and the cancer no longer requires testosterone as a metabolite. I'm in deep shit and hoping there is still a get out of jail card I can use.

Exploring options: BAT, Docetaxel (again) ARV 110
Getting 10 rounds of
Docetaxel
is a good option at this point. However, we are also looking into the ARV-110 trials being conducted at Yale. Dr Beltran has been in contact with them and someone from Yale is calling my brother tomorrow.

Stopping Prednisone
My MO has me weening down my prednisone intake since ending my
docetaxel
regimen. I was on 10 mg per day. I did a week already at 5 mg per day. I am noticing mild pain in my bones already. I am stage 4 metastatic. I have extensive mets. I had no side effects from the prednisone.

Next Steps after Cabazitaxel and Xtandi
The cancer metastasized to 3 bones at that time and I underwent aggressive treatment at NIH with
Docetaxel
and PROSTVAC along with Lupron. When the PSA started rising again after 18 months, I switched to Standard of Care at home with Xtandi and Lupron.

Please share your personal experience and references, but check your biases at the door
Someone on this site "cited" very minimal benefit from
Docetaxel
and presented Lupron as more harm than good. I'm 3+ years into my 3rd remission after
Docetaxel
and Lupron. I hated Lupron, but if it helped stall my cancer while I had other treatments, then I'm happy.

SOC is working for me - so far anyway.
I had a great response to the standard care of Zoladex and 6 sessions of
Docetaxel
. Scans in May 2019 and showed a significant reduction in tumour volume, my PSA reduced from 152 at diagnosis to a nadir of 0.07 in May 2019 and then a statistically insignificant decline to 0.06 in February 2020.

Tumour marker spiked again, anyone had this and it's not being progression?
Good morning, Yesterday I had my H&P infusions, the second lot on their own without
docetaxel
which ended in August.
