Medical bill for hormone treatment
I am getting
Degarelix
and Xgeva injections. The doctor's office sent me a bill amounting $2600 which is the deductible from Anthem blue cross. I am covered at the same time by Medicare. It seems I have to pay only 20 per cent of the $2600. But they insists I am responsible for the amount.

Surgical Castration. Why is it uncommon?
It is consistant with what is now reported for
degarelix
. The issues also gets raised about the irreversibility of a surgical castration.

Non standard Firmagon dosing effective for 3 months from single injection.
The initial dose half-life of
degarelix
is 40 days due to slow release of drug from depot in fat tissue. I will update this with the 4 month post-injection results in February 2020.

and 1.5 months of Zytiga/prednisone PSA is down to 11. However his hemoglobin has dropped to 10.8 and is RBC is low and 3.68. Furthermore, his Myelocyte Absolute Manual and Automated nRBC Absolute are all a bit high.

ore details on degarelix (Firmagon)
Conversely, leuprolide had a seemingly more favorable effect on insomnia and bodily pain than
degarelix
; however, the mean increase in insomnia with
degarelix
may be explained in part by significantly lower baseline insomnia in this group.

Cardiovascular Disease & ADT.
CONCLUSIONS: There were increased risks of cardiovascular disease with use of GnRH agonists and
degarelix
, but not with bicalutamide monotherapy.

Leuprolide: Eligard VS Lupron (1 month, 3 month, 6 months)
============== Also: What about Firmagon (
degarelix
). I understand that it is an antagonist whereas Eligard and Lupron are agonists? Is that so? That doesn't sound so right to me?

Celebrating with a visit for Canadian Ducoral
ON Monday I will start on
Degarelix
, (my bicalutamide with dutasteride regimen failing after 4+ years.) I'll probably keep the dutasteride as it keeps adrenal androgens from being metabolized to the most active form. (DHT) Wondering if estradiol would be a good addition at this time.

Long Overdue Update
Degarelix
and Casodex tried first. First dose of docetaxel started in ICU and he survived to be discharged, wasn’t expected to live six months. 9 rounds of docetaxel, taken off my MD Anderson. Nadir was 2.28 I believe. Two months later PSA rising again and Xtandi started.

I'm new here and just finished clinical trial.
I have done a 1 year trial of
Degarelix
injections. My MO has me at stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer. If it progresses much further, I am thinking of retiring early at age 58 because the Andregan Depletion Therapy is kicking my butt!

SRT with hormonal therapy, I need your help!
The MO (Jasek Pinski, MD) at USC Noris Cancer Centre, told me that he will put me on monthly injections of
Degarelix
(Firmagon) for 6 months and the RO will start the SRT 6-7 weeks after the first injection, he said that this will shutdown T level quickly and help the effectiveness of Raiation therapy

Are there any studies of those switching from Lupron to Degarelix or an orchiectomy due to cardiac risks of Lupron?
My husband's PSA is doubling on Zytiga and he cannot go back on Lupron due to the severe cardiac risk. Options given are an orchiectomy or back on Lupron. They are also looking for a genetic possiblity. He's been off Lupron since June of last year and on Zytiga alone. Last three Psa levels are doubling

Drug Resistence
However it appears he has become Zytiga and or
Degarelix
resistant. PSA Feb 25th was 22 and PSA March 25th is 24. He used Casodex on his first hormone blockade run in March 2014. He is Chemotherapy and Radiation naive.

Time to ADT Failure
I am wondering what the time is from starting ADT (Eligard, Lupron,
degarelix
, etc.) till the PCa becoming castrate resistant. I read a recent post from “whatsinaname” where his failed after only 6 months. Is that an outlier on the short side, or typical?

Best ADT for CVD?
Now for ADT I thought
Degarelix
would be the best choice regarding CVD. They propose Zoladex + Casodex instead. And adding Zytiga could be even more dangerous for CVD, so I am not sure we should begin with it, since he is getting "curative" radiation. What are your thoughts or experiences?
