I went for a spirometric test at my local GP......
And basically got refused lol. Well I spoke to the nurse about it and she told me that it would be better that she didn't give me the test in case it made me bring blood back up. Anyway she pulled up a letter from the lung specialist that I had seen in hospital on the computer she was using and

Constant productive cough and voice problems
I'm new to this site and am looking for some information from people more used, if that'sthe right word, to asthma. I'm 64 and had asthma as a child, which resolved in my teens. I've always been a bit 'allergic' - nettle rash etc and I have perennial rhinitis. I think I picked up a viral infection in

At my wits end
My 8 year old daughter started on inhalers in January this year after a long and drawn out chest infection over winter. She has been to see a specialist at Manchester Children's Hospital who advised for her to take 1 dose of Co-Amoxiclav 250/62 per day. She has now had a chest infection for the past

Is this normal?
My 10 yr old dd was seen by the doctor for a chest infection last friday. She's completed her amoxicillin and he'd given us the option of either taking her seretide 50 up to 3 puffs twice a day or to give four hourly ventolin. We went with the ventolin which she is still taking 4 hourly. On Monday

3 puffs of Seretide 50 twice a day??
My ten year old dd saw the doctor today for a chest infection. We have the usual Amoxicillin to take but he also said to take her Seretide 50 inhaler up to three puffs twice a day instead of her usual 2 puffs twice a day (via spacer). The leaflet in the pack doesn't mention 3 puffs even in a fully

Oh PLEASE help, so desperate.
Hi all, I'm losing tonnes of weight over this vile illness, (and sleep) my hubby and I are at loggerheads constantly, and I need some reassurance if possible. My 2 year old (2 yesterday, birthday at DRs!) has suspected asthma, has a blie and brown inhaler, and gets lots of chest infections. He finished

Stupid question: Was this an asthma attack?
I am feeling utterly out of my depth here. My 11 yo has had a recent exascerbation. She's had a five day course of 30mg of pred and is taking 2 ventolin, 4 clenil and 2 serevent morning and evening. We are also about half way through a course of amoxycillin though she's not had a chest infection the

chest infections, whats 'normal'?
My 7yod was diagnosed with asthma autumn last year. I'd taken her to the docs with yet another chest infection and explained that I wasn't happy for her to keep taking antibitics without knowing why she was getting so many URT infections. A peak flow diary was kept and seasonal asthma was the diagnosis

Update to night cough
Thought I'd update you on my 3 year old's night cough (a few messages ago). I took him to the doctors, who said he should increase his reliever inhaler to 2 puffs twice a day (he was on the minimum of 1 twice a day) and started him on amoxycillin (which he's had twice before). His chest was clear so

Doctors can get it right sometimes
Just had to post. Came home from long weekend away with start of sniffly nose and sneezes loud enough to wake the dead. As didn't feel aches or like could really do with taking to my bed, assumed it would all go away in day or so. You guessed, it didn't. Instead of sneezing, I coughed like it was an

Am I being impatient?
Hello To cut a long story short, I have a viral infection that's had a bad effect on my asthma. I'm on 30mg of Prednisolone, amoxicillin, 400mg of beclometasone (twice a day), 100mg of salmeterol (twice a day) and I still feel like I'm constantly tight-chested. None of these medicines seem to keep

Worried about asthma/chest infection
Hi everyone, Usually my asthma is well controlled, that is until I developed a chest infection last week. I went to the doctor who prescribed me amoxicillin for 7 days and a 5 day course of oral steroids. These seemed to get it into better control again until I developed a bad throat and ear ache 3/
