Stat dose of uniphylline after IV
Came off IV
aminophylline
yesterday and there was a bit of a cock up with my drugs, I kept saying - especially when I was reviewed in the night as became ill again that it was probably due to my theophylline levels dropping.

I can't cope with this much more!

and then when the correct dose was prescribed a drug error (which I pointed out to 3 separate nurses before it was sorted) ment that I was still only getting half the

Soo bored
Was put on IV
aminophylline
on weds, but they still aren't really playing ball (keep dropping my sats, going to the loo and coming back too sob to talk - you know the *fun* stuff your lungs do) so my cons yesterday decided to keep me on the
aminophylline
until Monday where he will review.

Getting back on top again!
I got my
aminophylline
increased after the on call consultant went to check the dosage and my records, hurrah someone listened. Pity I had to struggle all night before anyone did.

Spots on my arms - Side Effects?
I am on
Aminophylline
, Carbosisteine, Symbicort, Spiriva and Erythromycin. The spots look like acne. Has anyone else had similar? They don't itch but they do seem to be increasing. James.

This admission
This is my first time of having
aminophylline
- will I just get the 1 dose or will they give it over a few days? I don't understand it. If you've got to here, congrats ;-) listening to my total meltdown. Laura xxx

Uncontrolled Asthma and Medics
I went as I felt pretty overwhelmed by the severity of the last attack and the fact that after initial treatment, I had a really bad rebound attack and for the first time ever needed to be given
aminophylline
, which I had always thought would never happen to me!

When to take nebs
By the way, I'm on so many drugs at the moment -
Aminophylline
, carbocisteine, Erythromycin, symbicort and spiriva. Is this normal (well, as normal as can be I suppose) or is the hospital not sure what's happening so they threw everything at me? James.

Am I being ridiculous?!
So I was admitted to hospital on Sat night with a severe acute attack that took more than normal to get me out of and was admitted to the acute dependancy unit. I am feeling a good bit better but I and the drs know that when I go back to my inhalers I will relapse and end up being re admitted. I'm currently

Aminophylline or Theophylline? Anyone know about half-lifes and / or how long one has to be off the drug before effective anti-biotic works?
When taking antibiotics I have to stop the
Aminophylline
/ Theophylline as they mess up the absorption / effectiveness of the antibiotics. Both my wife and I remember being told that the
Aminophylline
clears the system quicker but cannot remember who / where we got the information.

Grumpy pants!
Aminophylline
is doing its job opening up the airways, but also making me very edgy, haven't slept properly for 3 days now, and so desperate to switch off. The ironing didn't get finished before I left, and the housework well I left most of that for the hubby to see to.

The joy of finding others like yourself!!!
It's so comforting to know that others have problems with paramedics understanding the seriousness of an attack for non-wheezers (my last admission was worsened due to a paramedic diagnosing a panic attack and refusing to treat me for anything else - thank you very much for landing me in HDU on an

Enforced sofa surfing
The doctors and nurses were pretty good and got my usual hydrocortisone, magnesium and the first stage of the
aminophylline
, well the loading dose! Two hours later on the ward consultant is discharging me because I am all knowledgeable, obviously got it all in hand.
