Luckily for me, my mucinous
adenocarcinoma
was caught at stage 1a, so I did not have to have chemo. I'm still NED, though I still get very nervous at check up time! Just thought that those newly diagnosed might find this encouraging! Cheers (and back to unpacking - we've just moved!) Barbara

It is not rocket science or sophisticated research (although some of this would also help mightily) for many cases of this cancer, because there is a relationship between persistent heartburn, the onset of Barrett's Oesophagus, and the development of dysplasia which carries a significant risk of

Reassurance needed, please share your experiences of the NHS
He then had CT, PET scans and a mediastinoscopy, followed by surgery (not VATS) for an
adenocarcinoma
, plus there was an unexpected large second tumour discovered, that was attached to his main artery so instead of a re-section, he had his full left lung removed at the beginning of September.

My cancer was found purely by chance.
But the endoscopy went ahead, and found a T1
adenocarcinoma
. The only symptom was a dry tickly cough, which I had hardly noticed. All this was more than four years ago, I've been very lucky. I had an esophagectomy and there's no sign of my cancer recurring.

Did you know whether you had Barrett's Oesophagus before being diagnosed with cancer?
The issue is relevant for
adenocarcinoma
(about 70% of UK oesophageal cancer cases) but not nearly so much for squamous cell carcinoma.

If you have an adenocarcinoma, I would be interested to know if you also have a family history of cancer and your age?
I' m trying to put together some information for a meeting with the consultant who missed my tumour. Two of the reasons being my age 48 when I saw him and a family history of skin cancer but no other cancers. Thanks.

Palliative Care- is chemo a necessary evil?
The Consultant has told us that radiotherapy isn't appropriate and they may have a problem with which chemo regimen to offer as Bob developed saddle PEs and neutropenia after ECF and the
adenocarcinoma
is aggressive.

Hair Loss and thinning after taking Tarceva.
I was diagnosed with
Adenocarcinoma
2 years ago. I had chemotherapy 2 years ago, followed by radiotherapy last year. Then in November I was prescribed Tarceva 150mg. Because of severe side effects I was taken off this tablet after 2 months. Also there was no change in the cancer.

My father is disgnosed with stomach cancer (adenocarcinoma) with signet cell type
His cancer has also spread to the peritoneal and doctors have suggested chemotherapies in Kolkata. I needed to understand what kind of drugs are used in this cancer and how much do they cost (per cycle). the information received from this forum will be really helpful.

Benefits of Gefitinib
My husband (52) was diagnosed with
adenocarcinoma
of the lung Stage IV in Sept 2013, and was very unwell. He had liver, lymph and bone mets (causing a fractured pelvis). After just one dose of chemo they found he had the receptor that responds to Gefitinib.

Post oesophagectomy surgical complications - mediastinitis
My husband, Russ, had his surgery for T3N1
adenocarcinoma
on 23 July and then underwent the usual X-rays and scans to ensure that healing had taken place before he started eating and drinking and all looked fine.
