Firstly, a characteristic of someone with unhealthy eating habits is to list everything that you ate as a signal of shame. Before you settle into a vicious cycle of binging, restricting and then binging again, you have to forgive yourself for all the previous episodes of binging.

Is binging a sort of comfort especially when you are stressed?

Is it a sort of release when you feel powerless with everything else?

The irony about a website like this is that people tend to ask others for help- when really the only person that can help is you, yourself. I can merely emphatize (as I have been through the same thought and feelings) and give suggestions on what to do to alleviate the suffering.

And I don't use the word suffer easily. I know that being in a cycle like this - an unhealthy obsession with food and meals - can make life very difficult and unpleasant.

Hence the only way is to find something else that can fill your life with purpose. The next time you feel the urge for binging - calm yourself. Find a good place away from food- get out of your house and take yourself out of the mindstate. In a way, fake it till you make it. Pretend like you are completely normal and have a completely healthy relationship with food.

While you're stuck in a binge - don't think that it's all or nothing. Stop before you go further and further down the rabbit hole. Drink water. Brush your teeth. And move away from the temptation zones. Call a friend, go to the mall to window-shop, make plans for the future - keep yourself busy with all the amazing things life has to offer, rather than occupying yourself with guilty thoughts about food.

Ultimately, it's up to you to want to change.

Coming to a site like this for help - half expecting the ability to turn back time and take back all those calories? It doesn't work that way at all.

All we can ever do, is look forward and press on - learning from all our mistakes along the way.

Good luck!

I was like this most of my life but I'm cured now. There is medication out there and this might help your addiction so ask your doctor,

Can you stop today or do you think you will eat all night? You have to take each day at a time. Can you start again tomorrow start by going out for a walk in the morning then keep yourself busy for the rest of the day be around other people if that will control what you eat more. I had a really good morning then for some reason this afternoon i have just done exactly the same as you have .I have a good happy life no money worries a great holiday to look forward to later in the year so i am not sure what my triggers are. I have come on here just now to try and sort myself out
