Forewarned is Forearmed - Common causes of syncope during Christmas!

Church syncope: Prolonged standing and singing in a warm church with a full congregation, can sometimes be a faint waiting to happen!

Xmas parties: Late nights, lack of sleep, coupled with dehydration may cause syncope in those who are vulnerable to fainting.

Christmas lunch: is often a delicious but heavy meal. Those who know they are vulnerable to syncope after a meal (postprandial hypotension), should try to rest sitting in a chair with feet slightly raised. A good reason to avoid the washing up!!!

Christmas Drinks: Alcohol is dehydrating! To avoid becoming dehydrated and hopefully avert syncope, ensure you drink a glass of water with or after each glass of wine.

Stretch syncope: Stretching and reaching up to put up the Christmas decorations can result in fainting if you are vulnerable. The pressure can impede the blood flow to the brain momentarily. Be warned!
