Hi my new to dealing with RAS my 5 year old daughter has just been diagnosed. I was wondering if senco at school could help her or alot of people have suggested dla but I dont know where to start and where to go. Sorry just nee to this all although she has been suffering since birth with convulsions and reflux anoxic seizures. Thanks

Hi Mbun, my nearly 5 year old also has RAS although he hasn’t had an episode for months now. I was told usually (but not always) they grow out of it by school age so I’m hoping that’s what’s happened for my little boy! Re sendco, my boy has a care plan in school which I put together using the STARS care plan template from their website (which is fantastic by the way) stating what are usual triggers, what it usually looks like, what to do if he has one etc.. No idea about dla though, sorry.

Lovely thank u so much for replying. Hope he outgrows its worrying to see. It seems to come in batches for us. Not a sign for mo this then 2 within a week. I'm hoping it goes quiet for abit and easier to management. Thank you will look into the care plan. I've asked stars to send details about this and I'll definitely pass this onto school. Her teachers are brilliant shes suffers aniexty as well and sensory processing disorder (autism trace) so there good working with her. Just wasnt sure if senco could help but thanks I'll look into this x

Hi dla, just ring them to send you a form, then its registered when they gave it you, so if you do get it, they back pay it from the date they sent it you. Bear in mind it takes a while, do it properly. You might get knocked back but just ask for a mandatory recommendation, which basically means they will look at your case again. Photocopy your pack when done, as if you do get it will need reviewing and least you have the info. You will know what I mean when you get it, a very big pack to fill in. We got it, breath holding with seizures. Good luck x
