This week's hot topic is exercise. Do you find that exercise improves or worsens your symptoms? Are you less able to partake in exercise since diagnosis? Please share your experiences! Remember that we are here to answer your questions too.

I find that I can do so much walking etc and then I become breathless and used to have to sit down quickly. Exercise is good but I cannnot do strenuous exercise. I can do a certain amount of stretching and now post ablation 3 1/2 months ago I have been able to walk the golf course again which was a def no no for 3 1/2 years. This is a great blessing as far as I am concerned.

Walking uphill is still difficult and brings on the fast breathing and I concentrate on one step at a time and deliberately slow my breathing right down. I can now do the stairs at home with no problem but pre ablation they were very difficult.

I think anything that puts the body under strain like strenuous exercise, or stress can bring the AFib on. I think you learn to do things within your capabilities. Having said thatI believe you have to keep moving as much as you can.

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your story.

It is great to hear that you are feeling better and find being active easier since your ablation!

I could not agree more. With exercise and any sort of arrhythmia or syncope, it is so important to find your own pace and what you are comfortable with. Nobody knows your body like you, and moderation is key.

Best Wishes,

Charlene
