NEAT – Non Exercise Activity Thermogenesis
NEAT is all of the calories/energy your body burns simply living. If you think of “exercise” as activity for the sake of physical fitness, then NEAT is everything else (washing the car, walking to lunch, running errands, climbing stairs, folding laundry, even chewing gum).
Research has proven that daily NEAT activity burns more calories than a half hour running on the treadmill. In fact, by simply standing and moving, a person can boost their metabolism, lower their blood pressure, and increase their mental clarity. Remember, every bit of movement matters!
