I have never had any pain with the red spots (telangectasias) inside my mouth or on my lips. However, one on my lip caused me trouble with bleeding and had to be removed.

I have one on my upper lip but so far no problems. However I do find my tongue gets very sore and I struggle to use ordinary toothpaste in my mouth. The other side effect which is now catching up on me is I am losing my teeth through the dry mouth (also have dry eye). This is making me very down but I understand this dry mouth/dry eye condition is part and parcel of auto immune illness.

Have you been tested for thrush in the mouth, a simple saliva test. I wasn't aware that I had it until I was reffered to a Dental Hospital. My mouth was also very tender, couldn't use ordinary toothpaste or drink anything fizzy. I have a bottle of Nystatin every month to treat thrush and my mouth has been so much better, only starts to get a bit sore when the next treatment is due.

To evryone who is struggling with the mouth pain. I had an e.n.t. believe it or not tell me to look up burning mouth syndrome/ MAYO CLINIC. Helpful! also to try out the BIOTENE line of products there are toothpastes, that do not burn mouthwashes, gum. Try it out

I have the red spots (telangectasias) in my mouth but have not found them to cause me any problems. Jut the ones on the edge of my lips look unsightly.

I have noticed in the last 4 months or so that my front teeth are becoming loose but didn't realise it could be my dry mouth causing it. Due for a check up soon so will ask my dentist.

I thought it was my receding gums causing my teeth to become loose. Anyone else think that?

I understand it to be a catch 22 situation - the lack of saliva has a knock on effect on the gum recession because you don't have the cleansing effect of the saliva. This is how my dentist has explained it to me.
