There is a procedure called a Sympathectomy where the sympathetic nerves are cut to relieve symptoms. Haven't had it done myself as I don’t fancy the side effects if it goes wrong. There is a growing body of evidence around the use of Botox for Raynauds. Maybe worth discussing with your rheumatologist if it’s available in your area.
I was offered a chemical sympathectomy a few years ago where they inject in to your neck to paralise the nerves to reduce the severity of raynaurds. I decided against it because it would not be a permanent solution and for me the risks were to great. Now I just stick with 6 monthly Iloprost infusions.
Hello!
I’m going to request Botox for mine when I see my consultant in September. I’ve requested it through my NHS rheumatologist but was advised I’d have better luck accessing it privately through my work insurance, so I’m giving it a whirl.
there’s quite a lot of research and positive evidence that it works effectively, even on secondary Raynauds so fingers crossed.
I currently have iloprost every 6 months or sooner if I get a DU. It works really well for me and definitely makes the winter easier to cope with.
What treatments have you had so far?
