I had an appointment with a rheumatologist at the local hospital today. I wasn't expecting much after the last guy who was not that good. But this lady is brilliant. She gave me a good looking over and then said i haven't had many tests recently so she is arranging a heart ct scan, lung function test, echo, arterial gases and even a visit to the flat feet dept, who knew they had one. My ankles are always sore and apparently flat, or shallow feet as i prefer can make that worse. She also said she would squeeze me in to see, i think dr denton. He comes down to chichester once a year now and the doctor said he is the top pah person in the country. I very much like hungarian rheumatologists now. Very positive appointment
Terrific hospital appointment - Scleroderma & Ray...
Terrific hospital appointment
You are lucky to be seeing prof, Denton. I was referred to the royal free when I was first diagnosed. It is quite a trek down to London to see him from Yorkshire, but worth it. Pleased you are getting all the right tests.
So pleased you have had a positive experience and getting the treatment you deserve, hopefully the results of the tests will be positive as well. It would be great to see Dr.Denton, a wonderful person (as are all his team) who is an expert in this disease. Wishing you well
Glad you have had some positive action taken. I have seen Prof Denton for about 15 years now as he comes to Eastbourne and he is the best. Good luck x
Professor Denton is the best. Make sure you write all your symptoms down and take them with you. You have a good rheumatologist now if she has sent you to see him.
That is my opinion anyway.
Lucky you for seeing someone who really helped and has referred you on to the best specialist! That's such great news. I can't even get past my GP...
Meanwhile, on the assumption that you'll take a while to get an appointment about your flat feet, I'd highly recommend Superfeet orthotics. I have flat feet with painful ankles, which then caused painful knees and hips as my arches collapsed completely, as I'm hypermobile. I took myself off to the local chiropractor and she gave me Superfeet orthotics (£30 a pair which last a year or so) in the hope that it would work, otherwise you end up spending £400+ on custom-made ones. My local Snow and Rock/Runners Needs/Cotswold Outdoors shop sells them and will assess you to make sure you get the right ones. You may end up needing custom-made orthotics anyway, but if you have a wait a few months to see someone, this would be a good option to tide you over and I can't believe how much difference they made to me.
Good luck!
