I think that you need to see your rheumatologist asap. It might be calcinosis, and this can get infected and sore.

Hello Akvan,

Sounds nasty so - as Inkedup9 says - I would go back to my rheumatologist. What does this 'sprinkling' you mention look like? I have not experienced anything yellow coming from my knees, and I also have diagnosed 'limited scleroderma'.

It is probably calcinosis, I get both the 'paste' and the hard crystals which can be really really painful when they are just under the skin. They can be hard to deal with and can't be prevented. Talk to your rheumy.

Hi there, if you have a consultant who normally looks after you then I would contact them and tell them about your concerns. Otherwise I would at the very least go and have a chat to your GP. Just because you have scleroderma doesn't mean that there might not be something else completely unrelated going on. As has been previously mentioned it might be that you have some calcinosis in your knee, but this is a more unusual site to have it, and it might be something else entirely. I have known people experience infective arthritis in joints, so go and get it checked out.

all my best
