Has anyone had or have at present, Plantar faciitis? If so what treatment did you have and has it helped?

I work in a Drs. office and they always order physical therapy with good results.

My GP referred me to a physio who gave me exercises and suggested gel insoles which I have got but didn't want to see me again!

I suffered with Plantar faciitis for over a year. I went to hospital for physio (though they are simple exercises you can do at home). Had 3 weekly appointments with my Podiatrist, for this and other problems with my feet.

By far the best thing that happened to me was my GP giving me a Steroid injection in my heel. I therefore suggest you ask your GP for this. It did take several weeks to alleviate the pain, but it did finally do the trick.

I asked my GP re a steroid injection having read about it on the Internet, but he said he didn't want to go down that route but doubled my pregabalin. I am seeing my consultant in May so will take his advice if no improvement. In the meantime I am trying various gel insoles which certainly help when walking. Thank you for responding.

The steroid injection may be a last resort. My condition went on a long time. Hope you can resolve your problem as I know how painful it is.

Many thanks. I have purchased some gel insoles from Foot Soothers and they are helping.Did you have a pain in your leg as well as the painful feet?

Yes I did. Because I was trying to compensate for the pain in my feet, I was putting extreme pressure on my leg. I have monthly appointments with my Podiatrist, every 6 months or so they will review how my insoles are acting and will adjust them accordingly.

This is done by highlighting the vulnerable areas of your feet, doing a simple trace with pencil/biro they will send it off and come back 2 weeks later with an insole that perfectly fits the contours of your feet, and gives the maximum help and comfort to your walking ability .Hope this helps.

I had this. I had to stop wearing all my sheepskin boots because they have no cushioning insoles. Changed all my shoes, so expensive but after 18 months it cleared up. Any excuse for new shoes.
