Raynaud's is a registrable disease. You can be VAT exempted for special shoes from Cosyfeet so perhaps you can apply for a heating allowance.

Please expand on what exactly you mean by registerable disease.

I am not sure but when I bought shoes from Cosyfeet they said that I could be exempt from VAT if I had a disease from a list they offered me and Raynaud's was included. I should ask the GP perhaps. Or/ and ask the heating company.

Thank you

When I was assessed by the OT. I was sent through a card stating that I had a chronic illness and disabilities and am exempt from paying vat on building work and disability

Aids relating to anything purchased to help me cope. I am registered as disabled now and carry a card. I think this must be a new thing as I was not given anything like this in the past.

Interesting - who is this OT? I've recently moved out from my mums and I am struggling to keep warm :(

An assessor at the Occupational Therapy Department. Your Gp can refer or you can write or phone them yourself .

I am very fortunate that my feet and fingers don't have ulcers! I like the name Cosyfeet as I find the freezing feet (they feel like blocks of ice) despite my efforts to warm them Thank goodness Summer is nearly here Western Australia) Take care!
